AEW Star Jeff Jarrett Optimistic About Adam Cole’s Hopeful Return After Concussion Setback

Published:

Amidst concerns over Adam Cole’s health, AEW veteran Jeff Jarrett has voiced his optimism regarding the wrestler’s hopeful return following a concussion that sidelined him. The injury forced Cole to relinquish his TNT Title just before the Texas pay-per-view event, with reports confirming the concussion occurred during AEW Collision tapings when Kyle Fletcher struck him with a powerful lariat. Jarrett’s comments shed light on the situation while offering encouragement for Cole’s recovery.

Jeff Jarrett, a WWE Hall of Famer with long-standing ties to Cole, shared his perspective during an episode of “My World With Jeff Jarrett.” Although admitting he did not have full details on the severity of Cole’s condition, Jarrett drew from his personal and professional experiences to provide insight into the challenges faced by athletes dealing with concussions.

Jarrett Reflects on His Connection to Adam Cole and the Impact of Concussions

Jarrett recalled the bond he shares with Adam Cole and other wrestling personalities like Tony Schiavone, noting that they all entered the wrestling business on the same date, April 6, albeit in different years. This shared milestone has created a unique connection that adds weight to Jarrett’s concern for Cole’s wellbeing.

“You know I want to be very careful how I respond because I don’t know the exact situation, just but you know Adam [Cole], you know I knew him at WWE, but sharing the locker room, me, him and [Tony] Schiavone all have April 6 uh different years was 85 I’m 86, obviously Adam’s much more sooner but that’s the first day in the business you know it’s kind of our birthday or anniversary as far as entering into the business.”

“But you know Adam my gosh I cannot really put it into words in that I’ll just say this if it is a concussion I am and this may sound crazy I am very hopeful because it does heal, but you got to give it time. It is– I understand that through my personal experience that it took quite some time like a long time to find [it] finally.”

Respect for Adam Cole’s Decision to Prioritize Health Over Immediate Return

Jarrett acknowledged the difficult choice Cole made by stepping away from the ring despite the pressure of performing on one of AEW’s biggest stages, recognizing the dedication and determination athletes often feel to push through injuries. He commended Cole for recognizing his limits and making the responsible decision to prioritize his health.

“I again I don’t know what what’s kind of a gut punch is that you know Dynamite and Collision and like there was no I don’t say ambulance but no massive red flags this and that and so the biggest stage of the year and I don’t want to call it an old school mentality I just think It’s in the and it’s not just a wrestler but an athlete’s DNA in that– ‘Okay the biggest stage of the year, I’m going to get through one more match.’ One somehow someway we’re going to persevere through this and get it done and so I respect the hell out of him arriving at a decision. But I think that also is very telling to me that he brought it upon himself to go, ‘You know what, man? I am I– you know,’ again, ‘My understanding is I’m just not right.’”

Long-Term Hope for Adam Cole’s Return to Wrestling

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the timeline for Cole’s comeback, Jarrett remains confident in the resilience of the human body and brain when given proper treatment, nutrition, and care. He pledged to reach out to Cole when the moment is right to share his own journey of recovery and encouragement, underscoring the belief that with time, Cole can return stronger.

“So, it’s heartbreaking. I mean, he is a young man. Um, I don’t again, it’s hard to really, at 36 years old. It’s– I’m going to remain hopeful that whether it’s a year or whether it’s two years, you know, whether it’s three years, but the brain and the human body has miraculous abilities to heal itself, if you get it the right opportunity with the right nutrition and the right care.Yeah, you know, when the time’s right, I may give him a buzz and let him know I’ll share my experience, strength, and hope on finally kind of what got me back on track. I wish him nothing but the best. We’re all pulling for Adam Cole.”

The situation has been troubling for AEW fans as Adam Cole, dubbed the Panama City Playboy, had to announce his time off with visible emotion while vacating the TNT Championship. His injury not only impacted his career trajectory but also raised awareness about the importance of concussion safety within the wrestling industry, especially given the demanding physical nature of the sport and the risks athletes face at major events.

Jeff Jarrett’s words reflect a broader concern shared by the wrestling community regarding the wellness of performers and the need to balance competitive drive with caution. As they await Adam Cole’s next steps, the hope remains strong that the 36-year-old wrestler will recover fully and return to AEW stronger than ever. For now, the focus remains on his healing process and well-being, with fans and colleagues alike offering their support for his journey back to the squared circle.
