At the recent release of WWE Unreal’s latest season, the behind-the-scenes moments from last year’s SummerSlam in East Rutherford, New Jersey, have been revealed. Becky Lynch shared the heartfelt significance behind her entrance during the event, highlighting the emotional connection tied to her new entrance theme music.
The Personal Story Behind Lynch’s Entrance Music
Lynch disclosed that her new entrance music was provided by The Wonder Years, a band she greatly admires. She shared,
“We were debuting my new entrance music by The Wonder Years, who are one of my favorite bands,”
and detailed how quickly the collaboration came about.
“I reached out to Wonder Years, big fan of them…Within, like, two days [Dan Campbell] had written a song. Just, like, lots of little Easter Eggs in, and one of them is ‘I talk to your ghost every night.’ And I looked where my dad was sitting, you know, six years ago.”
Emotional Impact During SummerSlam Performance
During a conversation with Paul “Triple H” Levesque, Lynch became emotional recalling the last SummerSlam where her late father was in attendance. He passed away in 2021 after battling cancer but made a significant effort to support her live. She said,
“Last time we were here, my dad was in the front row…and the song? ‘I talk to your ghost every night’ just… Kinda got me,”
followed by,
“You just caught me a little bit emotional there.”
She further described her father’s condition at that time, explaining that he sat through the entire show with a blanket over him, struggling with his illness but committed to being present for her special night.
The Lasting Significance of This Moment for Becky Lynch
This deeply personal experience not only adds powerful resonance to Becky Lynch’s performances but also connects her wrestling journey with her family’s story. The inclusion of The Wonder Years’ song, especially the lyric referencing a ghost, serves as a poignant tribute to her father’s memory. Lynch’s openness about this moment offers fans a glimpse of the emotional challenges she faces beyond the ring and emphasizes SummerSlam’s profound meaning in her life moving forward.
