If you thought the Republican Party couldn’t possibly win the upcoming midterm elections in the face of The Moron Presidency and the vaunted Blue Wave it spawned, you were wrong.
Despite controlling all three branches of our increasingly incoherent government, the Party of Class Warfare is doing well. While the hopelessly corrupt Democratic Party is poised for failure behind the tepid leadership of U.S. Sen. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
Why?
It’s simple messaging. The Republican midterm lies are more believable than the Democratic midterm lies.
The Party of Class Warfare is undermining the popular backlash against it with a cynical but effective strategy: Running against class warfare.
Cue LBJ saying “that dog won’t hunt.”
It’s only possible because there is no meaningful alternative to them in our rigged electoral system. A fading democracy which gives voters the illusion of choice by pitting rich Republican crooks who support corporate greed, like Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Moron-in-Chief Donald Trump, against rich Democratic crooks who support corporate greed, like Pelosi and U.S. Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.).
These toxic elites are a far cry from storied American leaders like George Washington, who were up to the challenges of impulse control and leadership by example. When the Revolutionary War hero was approached by a friend about subverting democracy and becoming America’s first King, he not only said “no,” he said “hell no.”
By contrast, the standard response of the scoundrels who now infect our Congress is more along the lines of “what’s in it for me?” Day after crooked day.
