Braun Strowman Eyes Iconic Jason Voorhees Horror Role

Published:

Braun Strowman, known outside of wrestling as Adam Scherr, is expressing interest in portraying one of horror’s most famous villains. Speaking with Collider at the Fantastic Fest film festival, Scherr revealed that he would like to take on the role of Jason Voorhees from the Friday the 13th series, a part that has captivated audiences for decades.

Scherr’s Ambition to Become Jason Voorhees

During the interview, Scherr mentioned that conversations have occurred regarding him stepping into the role of Jason Voorhees.

“There may be some talks about it with people that I know and my agency,”

Scherr said. He further expressed hope about aligning all involved parties to make it possible, stating,

“If we could ever get everybody to get back on the same page and allow the things to work, I might be the next Voorhees.”

Although no new Friday the 13th films have been released since 2009, the franchise appears to be stirring again. A prequel television series named Crystal Lake is currently in early development by A24 and Peacock, though Scherr is not part of that project.

Braun Strowman’s Career Post-WWE

After his WWE contract ended in May, marking the close of his second run with the company, Scherr has branched into other ventures. He stars in a new USA Network series called Everything on the Menu with Braun Strowman, which premieres on October 24 following SmackDown. This show was planned while he was still with WWE.

Since leaving WWE, the 42-year-old has not returned to wrestling but is expanding his acting resume. At Fantastic Fest, his role as a security guard in Deathgasm 2: Goremageddon received attention. During the interview, he even expressed willingness regarding potential changes for a Jason role, saying he would “gladly” shave his beard if needed.

The Future of the Friday the 13th Franchise and Strowman’s Prospects

The enduring popularity of the Jason Voorhees character makes the possibility of Scherr’s casting notable within horror circles. If the talks advance, fans may see Braun Strowman transition from wrestling star to horror icon. Meanwhile, the projects like Crystal Lake suggest the franchise is evolving, opening avenues for new interpretations and performers in the years to come.
