Speaking on the All F’N Wrestling Show, the former FTW Champion confirmed that no creative plans have been finalized for his return to AEW, leaving his comeback open-ended.
Injuries and Surgeries Keep Cage on the Sidelines
Cage has faced significant setbacks throughout 2024 due to multiple surgeries. His initial operation in April was to repair an injured knee, which put him out indefinitely. Just two months later, Cage required surgery on his other knee, further prolonging his time away from the ring and complicating his recovery process.
Uncertainty Surrounds Return and Creative Direction
In the podcast interview, Cage expressed his lack of knowledge about the details of his AEW return. He emphasized that anything could happen since there are no confirmed plans yet, stating,
“I have no idea about any sort of creative plans for our return at all at this point. So, I mean, I guess anything could be possible… There’s a whole wide open of versatility of what could happen, because there’s nothing set in stone at all for when I’m coming back or what I’m going to do when I come back,” Brian Cage said.
The wrestler also revealed his intention to keep his recovery status private, avoiding giving fans or AEW insiders any expectations regarding his return, adding,
“I’m not telling anybody that. I don’t want anybody to have an inkling. I want everybody to have no idea of, ‘Oh, maybe around this time,’ because it might be next week, next year, or I don’t know. Who knows?”
Recent AEW Activities and Side Projects
Before being sidelined, Cage last appeared in AEW as a member of The Don Callis Family, where he teamed up with Konosuke Takeshita and Will Ospreay. Outside of AEW, he has been active on the independent circuit, partnering with Lance Archer as part of the tag team known as The Murder Machines.
