Bryan Danielson Lands Full-Time AEW Commentary Role Starting Sept 10

Published:

AEW President Tony Khan has confirmed that Bryan Danielson will take on a new full-time role as a commentator for AEW Dynamite beginning with the September 10 episode. This marks a significant transition as Danielson steps away from full-time in-ring competition to contribute behind the announce desk.

Details on Bryan Danielson’s New Commentary Position

Starting this Wednesday, Bryan Danielson, also known as The American Dragon, will officially join the AEW Dynamite commentary team on a full-time basis. Tony Khan announced the change via Twitter, expressing excitement about Danielson’s return to the broadcast booth and welcoming him back to Dynamite on TNT Drama and HBO Max.

Transition From Wrestling to Commentary

Danielson’s shift to commentary followed the conclusion of his full-time wrestling career, which ended after he lost the AEW World Championship to Jon Moxley at WrestleDream in October 2024. Since that match, Danielson has largely stepped away from in-ring competition, with his only recent wrestling appearance being an eight-second dark match victory over Max Caster on June 25 at an AEW Collision taping, where he did not take any offense.

Remaining Active in AEW Despite Reduced Wrestling

Although Danielson has minimized his wrestling engagements, he remained physically involved in AEW storylines, notably at All In Texas where he intervened during the Texas Death Match between Hangman Adam Page and Jon Moxley by confronting the Death Riders. He later disclosed that some of the physical moves he performed in that event were pre-approved.

What Bryan Danielson’s Full-Time AEW Role Means Going Forward

Bryan Danielson’s move to a full-time commentary role represents a fresh chapter in his AEW career, allowing him to stay prominently involved in the promotion without the physical toll of consistent wrestling. His knowledge and experience are expected to enrich the AEW Dynamite broadcast, enhancing the viewing experience for fans. As the new season of AEW Dynamite kicks off, viewers can anticipate his commentary debut on September 10.
