WWE star Chelsea Green recently suggested enhancing the visibility of the women’s division by promoting the Women’s United States Championship and the Women’s Intercontinental Championship more frequently on television. Green, who earned the inaugural Women’s United States Championship last year, believes there is ample opportunity to spotlight both titles.
During an interview with CinemaBlend, Green emphasized that WWE offers enough programming hours to highlight these championships effectively. She expressed a strong desire to see champions like Giulia regularly compete with the United States title on TV, along with Zelina and Michin featuring prominently with the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
“Do I think that we’re doing all we can with them? No. I would love to see more being done with them. I want Giulia to be wrestling on TV every single week with that title. I wanted Zelina on TV every single week. I want Michin to win the title and be on TV every single week. There’s so many hours of WWE, and we can find a place for those championships if we try,” she said.
Green also revealed she is not involved in WWE’s creative decision-making but hopes that her social media activity helps raise awareness and significance for these titles by developing storylines beyond the official programming.
“It’s tough. I’m not a part of the creative meetings. I don’t know how that looks. So all that I can do on my end is make the title mean something. I hope that by putting it out there on social media and making storylines on social media, it garners the attention that those titles deserve,” she added.
Currently, Giulia is the Women’s United States Champion featured on SmackDown, while Becky Lynch holds the Women’s Intercontinental Championship on RAW, reflecting WWE’s ongoing focus on both belts.
Vince Russo Criticizes WWE’s Handling of Chelsea Green
Former WWE writer Vince Russo expressed his dissatisfaction with how WWE is booking Chelsea Green, particularly criticizing the decision to move the Women’s United States Championship away from her. Speaking on the Sportskeeda Wrestling BroDown show, Russo described Green as one of the most compelling parts of SmackDown.

“They reminded me during the show that she was the US champion, which reminded me [that] you took the belt off of Chelsea Green for [Giulia]. Think about that. What? So what does that tell you? That’s the internet wrestling community that are in love with this girl because she’s a foreign wrestler. She’s a great wrestler. She’s in the ring. Meanwhile, Chelsea Green is the only bright freaking light on this show. And you took the belt off of Chelsea to put it on [Giulia],” Russo said.
Russo’s comments highlight ongoing debates about WWE’s programming choices and the role Green plays in energizing the women’s division. The reactions suggest that fans and insiders believe Green deserves a more prominent position on television.
Potential Impact and Possible Next Steps for Chelsea Green
Chelsea Green’s public call to better showcase the Women’s United States and Intercontinental Championships points to an increasing demand for elevating women’s wrestling content in WWE. Given the strong reaction from figures like Vince Russo and fans alike, WWE may consider revising its booking strategies to capitalize on Green’s appeal and bolster these titles.
Green’s continued efforts through social media to enhance the championships’ significance also indicate that she is committed to contributing creatively, despite her current lack of access to internal planning meetings. As WWE builds toward future storytelling, how they incorporate Green and the women’s titles could be crucial in elevating the women’s division’s profile across both SmackDown and RAW.
