Chris Jericho Reveals AEW Feud as His All-Time Favorite

Chris Jericho has identified some of his favorite rivalries after more than three decades in professional wrestling, naming an AEW storyline as one of his all-time favorites. Jericho has not competed in the ring since April of last year, when he lost the ROH World Championship to Bandido in a title versus mask match at AEW Dynasty.

Contract Status and Recent Activity

Reports indicate that Jericho’s contract with AEW is scheduled to expire on December 31, 2025, and as of now, he remains listed on AEW’s roster. Although there have been no creative plans for Jericho to appear on WWE Raw—a topic that has been discussed repeatedly since his contract’s expiration date emerged—he continues to maintain an active presence outside wrestling. His band is currently touring the United Kingdom with dates running through February 21, followed by a planned tour in the United States this May.

Jericho Reflects on His Most Memorable Feuds

During a recent interview on Radio X, Jericho was asked to name his favorite wrestling feuds. He highlighted two memorable WWE storylines and his recent program with MJF in AEW. Jericho described these rivalries as deeply engaging, especially those with extended buildup periods that last several months.

He said,

“Oh my gosh, I mean, it’s been 35 years, man, so there’s a lot of them.”

He recalled the 2008 feud against Shawn Michaels as one of the greats, along with his 2016 battles against Kevin Owens. Notably, Jericho singled out his 2020 rivalry with MJF as a standout.

Speaking about what makes a rivalry special, Jericho explained,

“I think Jericho vs MJF from 2020 was a great one. The ones that are my favorite are the long builds that take six, seven, eight months. In order to go that long, it has to be something special, something magical. Those ones always stand out for me off the top of my head, because we had some time invested into it, and they did go the better part of a year.”

Actually, the MJF storyline was literally 366 days from beginning to end. That’s when you know when you have something good.

Significance and Future Possibilities

Jericho’s reflections highlight the importance of long-term storytelling in wrestling, with his feud against MJF standing as a model for how extended narratives can engage fans and build anticipation. While his in-ring activity has paused, Jericho’s legacy continues through these memorable rivalries and his ongoing influence in professional wrestling. His current contract status and absence from WWE programming leave fans wondering about his next move in wrestling, especially as his music career remains active with upcoming tours.
