Cody Rhodes Reveals Biggest Part of His Story Is Locked Behind a Wall—What He Can’t Share Yet

Published:

Cody Rhodes recently revealed that a significant portion of his personal and professional journey remains untold because it is “locked behind a wall.” This admission came during an episode of his podcast, So What Do You Wanna Talk About?, where WWE star Becky Lynch encouraged him to write a book about his experiences. Rhodes expressed interest in writing a book but made it clear that there is a crucial part of his story he cannot yet reveal.

Rhodes Reflects on Frustration Over Sharing His Experience

Rhodes shared his frustration about the challenges of discussing this part of his story, noting how any attempt to share it results in accusations of rewriting history despite evidence supporting his account. He said,

“I would love to write a book, but an entire huge chapter is locked behind a wall. And everything I say these days when it comes to that is somehow I’m rewriting history, I’m remembering it wrong, even though the receipts are literally on social media, stop. But every time I say anything, it’s the wrong thing to say.”

He went on to express emotional pain over being unable to tell that side of the story himself, stating,

“And it hurts. It hurts my heart because I’d love to tell the story. I just have to wait for somebody else to tell the story and hopefully they include me in it.”

He concluded his thoughts on the matter by reaffirming his desire to share more openly when the time is right, saying,

“But it’s a very odd situation, but I would love to write a book.”

Details Remain Limited About Rhodes’ Departure from AEW

Since his exit from All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in 2022, Cody Rhodes has largely avoided explaining the full reasons behind his departure. In a 2024 interview with Chris Van Vliet, Rhodes described the conclusion of his time at AEW as “terrible” and suggested that deeper stories would emerge eventually. He explained,

“How AEW ended was terrible, really, and people are going to write books later on and these stories are going to get out there and then it’s going to be a whole new ballgame.”

More recently, during an appearance on The Bill Simmons Podcast, Rhodes touched on his feelings about leaving the promotion, emphasizing his sense of betrayal. He remarked,

“Feeling disrespected at something I built with my friends…that we built, feeling disrespected there…I wouldn’t stand for it.”

The Broader Impact and What Lies Ahead

The ongoing mystery surrounding the locked part of Cody Rhodes’ story has created anticipation among fans and wrestling insiders alike. His reluctance to fully disclose what happened behind the scenes at AEW adds tension to an already complex narrative about his career progression. Until the circumstances allow, Rhodes will likely maintain this silence, leaving much speculation about his exit and how future accounts might reshape public perception of his journey in professional wrestling.
