Damian Priest Reveals How Triple H’s Advice, Shared by The Undertaker, Transformed His WWE Career

Published:

Damian Priest opened up about a crucial moment in his WWE journey when he received advice from Triple H that was originally shared with him by The Undertaker. Early in his career, Priest admitted he was trying to fit a mold he believed WWE expected instead of embracing his authentic self. This internal conflict shifted when Triple H encouraged him to stop pretending and be genuine, a change that marked a turning point in his wrestling identity.

“It was what I thought they wanted me to be. I remember my boss, Triple H, came up to me one day. He was like, ‘The day you stop trying to pretend to be you and you’re just you, you’re gonna make a lot of money in this business.’ He goes, ‘Undertaker told me the same advice. I know it’s weird, right? Because how’s somebody telling you how to be yourself, that you’re not being yourself? You know you, but one day, it’ll click.’ Sure enough, one day, it just did. I remember I was in a match in NXT with Finn Balor, and that was the first time that I felt that it clicked. Then, I got called up to the main roster.”

Turning Point During Key NXT Match

Priest pinpointed a match against Finn Balor in WWE NXT as the moment when his confidence and true persona aligned perfectly. That match represented the first time he felt fully connected with being himself in the ring. However, despite this breakthrough and his promotion to WWE’s main roster, he struggled with slipping back into the habit of adopting a persona that wasn’t entirely his own.

Triple H’s Continued Mentorship and Support from The Judgment Day

After Priest’s rise to the main roster, Triple H once again intervened, advising him to shed his inhibitions and be more relaxed in his performance. This support from Triple H, combined with the backing of The Judgment Day faction, helped Damian regain the confidence needed to fully embrace his identity and elevate his WWE career.
