Darby Allin has used his earnings from All Elite Wrestling (AEW) to help his parents retire comfortably and encourage them to enjoy life to the fullest. Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Allin emphasized that material possessions hold little value for him now, as his main focus is ensuring his family lives their best possible lives.
He recently took his father to the Super Bowl and a motivational retreat led by Dutch speaker Wim Hof, while his mother visited the base camp of Mount Everest, which Allin himself climbed in 2025. Rather than allowing his parents to reminisce only about their youth, Allin wants them to experience meaningful and fulfilling moments in the present.
Darby’s Motivation Stems from Family Well-Being and Growth
“Just seeing my family and loved ones get the most out of their lives,”
Allin said when asked what motivates him daily.
“I pushed my dad and I pushed my — with what I’ve been able to make from AEW, I could have my parents retire. And I got them a house down the street from me now. So it’s just a matter of pushing them, because I didn’t want their glory days to be in their 20s. I want [it] to be right now, like right now your glory days. And I brought my dad to the Wim Hof [Dutch motivational speaker] retreat and I brought my mom to base camp.”
“So I’m constantly pushing them to their limits. And to see people, kind of like how I overcame a lot with just the craziness I did and broke down those mental barriers, when I see that in other people and I see that light switch go off, like, ‘Oh, I can do anything. I am confident.’ There’s nothing better than that.”
Allin’s Generosity Extends to His Wrestling Career
Allin’s selflessness is not limited to his family; he also brings it into his wrestling performances. He aims to make his opponents look their best to elevate both their careers and AEW’s reputation. Despite sometimes feeling he may be too giving, potentially to his own detriment, his focus remains on creating memorable, high-quality matches.
“My whole thing is trying to make someone look as good as possible,”
Allin shared.
“I don’t think about, you know, ‘How is this going to benefit Darby?’ Sometimes I feel like I’m almost too, I don’t know what the word is, too kind, too giving to the point where maybe it can be a little detriment to myself. Maybe I gotta look out for myself more.”
“But that’s my thing. My goal is to just give people their best matches. People look back, like, ‘Damn, Darby made so and so look like a million dollars. Oh, and he made so and so look like a million dollars.’ Because that’s the beauty of this is it takes two to tango and it’s super fun when you can just raise up everybody’s stock and then the company is so much better in that aspect.”
The Broader Impact of Darby’s Support and Attitude
Darby Allin’s dedication to supporting his parents in retirement and encouraging them to embrace life’s opportunities today reflects a deep personal drive fueled by family loyalty. His approach to wrestling, centered on generosity and elevating his peers, also contributes positively to AEW’s growth. This combination of family focus and professional selflessness not only shapes Allin’s career but also strengthens the wrestling community around him.
As Allin continues to push boundaries both in life and the ring, his example demonstrates how success can be used to enrich the lives of loved ones and colleagues alike, leaving a lasting influence on those around him and on AEW’s reputation in sports entertainment.
