Rebel, an AEW performer known for her distinct journey in wrestling, recently shared an update on her health challenges that have paused her in-ring career since 2022. Many major AEW and WWE talents, including Dustin Rhodes, have expressed their support following the 47-year-old’s disclosure about her ongoing medical treatments and physical difficulties in Jacksonville.
Initially joining AEW as a hair and makeup stylist, Rebel later transitioned into wrestling, often appearing alongside Britt Baker. Over the last year, she has been open about her health struggles, which led to multiple hospital visits and a diagnosis of primary pulmonary lymphoma. This difficult diagnosis prompted an outpouring of encouragement from fans and fellow wrestlers alike.
Rebel Shares Honest Update on Her Current Condition
In a recent Instagram Live session, Rebel detailed the challenges she faces daily, including problems with speech, chewing, swallowing, and hand control. She revealed that she currently uses a walker for stability due to high fall risk but continues to work hard in rehabilitation to improve her independence.
“Right now, I’m walking with a walker. I can walk without it, but I’m a big fall risk, so we take precautions. Thank you guys for all the prayers. I’m staying strong and looking to get stronger and hopefully regain some independence because I can’t wash my hair by myself. If I try, it’s really hard. I definitely miss being on the road and on TV. That’s why I’m here at rehab in the hospital — because I plan on getting back and getting stronger. I know I sound different with my speech, but at least I can still speak,” she said.
Her message emphasized her determination to recover and her gratitude for the continued support from her community.
Fellow Wrestling Stars Extend Their Support and Encouragement
Several notable AEW and WWE personalities have publicly sent well wishes to Rebel as she navigates this difficult time. Wrestlers Tonga Loa, MVP, Penelope Ford, Kacy Catanzaro, Harley Cameron, Chavo Guerrero, and Madison Rayne, along with Dustin Rhodes, have shared their concern and hopes for her recovery.
The solidarity shown by these figures highlights the compassionate nature of the wrestling community, especially in moments of personal hardship. Their messages reflect a wide network of support surrounding Rebel as she confronts her health issues.
The Importance of Community Support in Health Battles
Rebel’s health update and the reactions from wrestling peers underline the significant role of encouragement and public awareness for those facing severe illnesses. Her situation brings attention to primary pulmonary lymphoma and its effects on mobility and daily functions.
The ongoing support from fans and fellow wrestlers not only lifts Rebel’s spirits but also showcases the unity within AEW and WWE circles. Looking ahead, her focus remains on rehabilitation and regaining as much independence as possible, leaving the community hopeful for her return to the ring.
