EC3, a veteran wrestler with over twenty years in the industry, has publicly urged Tony Khan to sign him to All Elite Wrestling (AEW) after recently becoming a free agent. Known for his time in WWE, as well as stints with TNA, Ring of Honor (ROH), and most recently the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA), EC3 believes his addition could make a significant impact in AEW’s roster.
During an appearance on TMZ’s Inside the Ring, EC3 hinted at reviving his popular “Top 1%” character and expressed eagerness to compete against opponents embodying a certain proud, pretentious style. He described this persona as someone wearing suits, scarves, and other refined attire, warning that anyone fitting this mold would be an ideal contender against him.
“If or when the Top 1% returns, we’re going to do it at Exodus Pro, which is my little promotion in Cleveland. We’ll probably livestream it, but I’ll bring it back there and I’ll put myself in the ring. Any overtly grinning, smug, strong jawed, d**kish version of me would be a good place to start. If anybody has a suit, a scarf, a sweatervest, slacks, oxford shoes on, wears prescription glasses when they don’t have a perscription, anybody who falls into that motif would be….”
EC3 Identifies Kyle Fletcher as a Potential Rival and Warns AEW About Missed Opportunities
EC3 singled out Kyle Fletcher as someone matching his description of the type of wrestler he wants to face. He challenged AEW to take a chance on him, confident that he could quickly win over the audience. He proposed that even a short 15 to 20-minute match would be enough to ignite a strong reaction from fans, highlighting his belief in his own ability to energize the AEW crowd.
“AEW, if they had any courage, throw me in the mix and watch the place explode. 15-20 minute, 50-50 match, come on. Give me a five minute get over with a local and I’ll have that place throwing p**s at me.”
EC3 Previously Proposed a Storyline with MJF to AEW
During a conversation on Sportskeeda Wrestling’s The Wrestling Outlaws podcast, EC3 disclosed that he pitched an idea to Tony Khan involving a storyline with MJF, who shares a similar arrogant wrestling persona. The concept involved EC3’s character suffering amnesia and struggling to accept that MJF had taken his place as the top star. Although the pitch showed promise, it ultimately did not move forward.
“That pitch was like, yeah. You know, I put him [MJF] over because we both want to be the top guy and that’s cool. And then we’ll do whatever. Like, maybe EC3 gets knocked on the head and he has an amnesia and then here’s the top 1% is back and he doesn’t understand what is going on except this top 1% is bank cards are declined and the cars are repossessed. It’s like, I don’t know what’s happening?”
Future Prospects for EC3: AEW, TNA, or Beyond
At present, EC3’s next career step remains uncertain. While he openly expressed his willingness to join AEW, he has also hinted at a return to TNA in the near future. His extensive background in multiple wrestling organizations combined with his “Top 1%” persona ensures that his eventual destination will be followed closely by fans and industry insiders alike. EC3’s bold call-out to Tony Khan highlights the ongoing competition among promotions to secure leading talent.
