Je’Von Evans Almost Recreated Kofi Kingston Royal Rumble Spot

Je’Von Evans, a recent addition to WWE Raw, came close to replicating one of Kofi Kingston‘s iconic Royal Rumble escapes during the 2026 match. Kingston, renowned for his spectacular and inventive saves throughout many Royal Rumble matches, famously kept himself from elimination by performing handstands, leaping from commentary tables to the ring apron, and even landing on the shoulders of former New Day partner Big E. Although Evans rehearsed a similar stunt, he ultimately chose not to perform it in the ring, aiming to forge his own unique identity instead.

Evans’ Reflections on Emulating a Legendary Moment

Evans spoke openly about the expectations surrounding his performance, sharing insights on Busted Open Radio.

“Everyone was kind of expecting me to do the Kofi Kingston save and, ‘Oh, is he going to jump from the table to the apron?’ or whatever,”

The Young OG said. He continued,

“I tried it and it worked! But I’m glad we didn’t do it because, I feel like Kofi, he made that so memorable with his that I don’t want to continue something that he already made legendary. That was his thing, so I want to create something that everybody will be like, ‘Oh. That’s Je’Von Evans.’ I always want to be myself.”

Evans’ Impressive Debut and WWE Journey So Far

Making his Royal Rumble debut in 2025 after capturing the WWE NXT Iron Survivor title, Evans showcased remarkable endurance, lasting 48 minutes before elimination by Randy Orton. He described the event as “magical,” expressing gratitude for the challenge despite taking brutal moves such as a German suplex and Brock Lesnar’s F5. Since winning Iron Survivor at Deadline, Evans earned his place on the main roster and signed with WWE Raw on January 5, following a tough title match loss to then-NXT Champion Oba Femi.

Looking Ahead: Evans’ Path to Establishing His Own Legacy

By consciously stepping away from Kane Kingston’s celebrated style, Je’Von Evans is determined to create memorable moments that belong exclusively to him. His thoughtful approach highlights a commitment not just to WWE Raw but to originality within a fiercely competitive environment. As he continues to evolve and gain experience facing top-tier opponents like Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar, fans can anticipate the emergence of a distinctive and exciting presence in future Royal Rumble matches and WWE storylines.
