Je’Von Evans Explains Skipping Kofi’s Save at Royal Rumble

WWE Superstar Je’Von Evans discussed his decision to forgo a Kofi Kingston-inspired save during the recent Royal Rumble in an interview with Busted Open Radio. Evans revealed that while he rehearsed the well-known save move, he chose to pursue a unique action that fans would associate directly with him.

Evans’ Intent to Establish His Own Signature Moment

Evans acknowledged that expectations were high for him to replicate Kofi Kingston’s iconic save.

“Everyone was kind of expecting me to do the Kofi Kingston save and, ‘Oh, is he going to jump from the table to the apron?’ or whatever. I tried it, and it worked!”

He further expressed,

“But I’m glad we didn’t do it because I feel like Kofi, he made that so memorable with his that I don’t want to continue something that he already made legendary.”

Additionally, he stated,

“That was his thing, so I want to create something that everybody will be like, ‘Oh. That’s Je’Von Evans.’ I always want to be myself.”

Performance Highlights and Match Outcome

Entering the Royal Rumble at position number eight, Evans lasted more than 40 minutes in the men’s match. Despite putting in a strong effort, he was eliminated by Randy Orton and did not register any eliminations himself. His choice to avoid duplicating a popular spot highlights his dedication to forging his own path within the WWE landscape.
