Jeff Jarrett Predicts Kenny Omega Will Be AEW’s First Unified Champion After Epic Comeback

Published:

Jeff Jarrett, WWE Hall of Famer and current Director of Business Development for All Elite Wrestling (AEW), recently shared his insights during an episode of his podcast, My World with Jeff Jarrett. He focused on Kenny Omega’s remarkable comeback and the highly anticipated match against Kazuchika Okada, mentioning his thoughts on who might become the first AEW unified champion. Jarrett’s discussion touched on the challenges Omega faced after dealing with a serious health issue and how that could influence the outcome of major AEW title matches.

Analyzing the Rivalry Between Omega and Okada

Jarrett reflected on the significance of the trilogy between Omega and Okada, emphasizing the complex layers behind their rivalry. He questioned who, at this stage in their careers, wants the victory more and who sees this match as vital to cementing their legacy. According to Jarrett, Omega’s return after a severe illness and surgery adds an emotional depth and intensity to this bout. He pointed out the potential home court advantage Omega might feel despite the match being in Okada’s territory. Additionally, Jarrett considered the effects of youth, recovery, and legacy on both wrestlers’ motivations.

Jarrett said,

“I just gotta say, at the end of the day, when you stack all the layers, and when you look at great trilogies, or good matchups, or heated rivalries, all that. And you have a guy like Omega and — you know, going through that serious, serious health situation, health scare. I don’t want to call it just an injury; a sickness, an illness, a surgery, the recovery time. How much did that really tax him? He has come back strong. And i may not know every match since he’s come back. Has he faced anybody at this level since his comeback? So layer that in there. Okada, you have to say, would be the visiting team. I think yes, Kenny is Canadian, but I think Omega would call this the home court. But is there a youth factor, a recovery factor, an injury factor. At the very core of it all, who wants it the most? Like, who is — at this stage of both guys ‘ careers, who’s the most comfortable in their legacy? Or does one of them really look at and say, ‘You know what? I really want this win to cement my legacy in my mind.’ And at the end of the day, that’s really all that matters to those two guys. Where do they stack up in their mind?”

Prediction: Kenny Omega to Secure the First Unified AEW Championship

When prompted for his forecast on the outcome, Jarrett expressed strong support for Kenny Omega. Despite acknowledging Okada as perhaps one of the greatest tournament wrestlers in history, Jarrett highlighted the determination Omega showed by returning to action after nearly losing his wrestling career to illness. He suggested that the renewed drive Omega gained from overcoming adversity could give him an edge over Okada, who he noted has family responsibilities that might shift his focus.

Jarrett elaborated,

“If I’m a betting man Conrad, which I’m not. But on this, I just think it’s going to be very, very, very, very hard to bet against Kenny Omega. Because I just believe — yeah Okada, the greatest tournament wrestler maybe in history. But when it comes right down to it, and Omega coming back. In a lot of ways, he never thought he might not ever wrestle again. So maybe having a new lease on life, he’s dialed in. Okada with the wife and family, and maybe everything that goes with that. I’m going to tip the cap to my man, Kenny Omega, to get his hand raised at the end of the night and be the first Unified Champ.”

Thoughts on Jon Moxley’s Match Against ‘Hangman’ Adam Page

Jarrett also shared his views on the AEW tournament match featuring Jon Moxley challenging ‘Hangman’ Adam Page. He praised Moxley as one of his all-time favorite wrestlers and acknowledged Moxley’s strong showing in previous tournaments. However, Jarrett noted signs of vulnerability in Moxley’s faction, the Death Riders, and predicted that Adam Page, who has gained significant momentum and has the ability to deliver promos in both English and Spanish, is favored to win the championship at the upcoming event.

Jarrett commented,

“One of my all-time favorite opponents is actually challenging for it. He was in the Owen last year and didn’t quite get the job done. For him to get a return into the tournament, march his way through that. Had one hell of a match against Ospreay. And I think you’re the first one that chuckled months ago and you said something in fact, ‘You know Jeff, a big belt buckle is the logo.’ I think you were the one that said that. So I chuckle now, thinking about this. I think without question, Moxley’s time is up. There’s been chinks in the armor of the Death Riders. And so I think Hangman and — s**t, a guy that is bilingual like that and could do a promo in Spanish? No, I do. I think he’s got all the momentum in the world. I see him walking out in Globe Life, the champion for sure.”

His prediction that Kenny Omega will become the first unified AEW champion signals a major moment in the company’s history, potentially elevating Omega’s status even further after his comeback. Meanwhile, the shift in momentum suggested in the Jon Moxley and Adam Page feud could indicate changing landscapes within AEW’s championship scenes. Fans and observers will be watching closely as these high-profile contests unfold, shaping the future narratives and legacies within AEW.
