Jim Cornette Claims Tony Khan Pays Britt Baker to Stay Home

Published:

Jim Cornette, a veteran of the wrestling world, has suggested that Tony Khan is struggling to manage his relationship with former AEW Women’s World Champion Britt Baker. According to Cornette, Khan is effectively paying Baker to remain inactive rather than featuring her on AEW programs. This development is notable, as Baker has not appeared on AEW television since November of last year, leaving fans eager for her return.

The recent AEW Dynamite event was held in Pittsburgh, which is Britt Baker’s hometown, yet she was absent from the show. Speaking on his podcast, The Experience, Cornette argued that Khan’s discomfort with Baker has led to her exclusion from storylines and appearances. He explained,

“Well, you don’t think she’s still in the wrestling business, do you? How long has it been since anybody’s seen her? She’s got a contract with a billionaire who will send a cheque to her house every week or every two weeks, whatever the pay period is. She never has to show up, go anywhere. He’s obviously uncomfortable dealing with her. So he’s put her on ice and she can just sit there and make her money and do nothing,” Jim Cornette said.

Calls From Diamond Dallas Page for Britt Baker’s Return

While Cornette’s comments portray a tense situation, another wrestling veteran, Diamond Dallas Page (DDP), has publicly encouraged Tony Khan to bring Britt Baker back to AEW television. DDP pointed out that Baker remains in excellent physical condition and is prepared to resume her wrestling career. On social media platform X, DDP stated,

“Yo Tony, when are you bringing back @RealBrittBaker? Rumor has it she’s been staying in peak physical condition and is ready to make her return. She’s ready and so are the fans. 👊💎 Catch the full DDP’s Gauntlet with Britt from last December now on the @DDPYoga YouTube channel!” Diamond Dallas Page wrote.

Despite these endorsements and fan anticipation, there has been no official update regarding Britt Baker’s comeback to AEW. The absence of any announcements leaves uncertainty about the timing of her return to the ring.

The Broader Context and What Lies Ahead

Britt Baker, known for her impressive skills and as a former AEW Women’s World Champion, remains one of the promotion’s most popular figures. Her prolonged absence and the conflicting reports surrounding her status highlight internal dynamics within AEW that fans and analysts are watching closely. Tony Khan, as AEW’s owner and lead figure, faces pressure to manage these scenarios carefully, especially as Baker’s hometown show recently passed without her participation.

The ongoing speculation about the Tony Khan Britt Baker conflict reflects tensions between management decisions and wrestler involvement, which could impact AEW’s female division storytelling and fan engagement. Whether Britt Baker will soon return to active competition remains a key question, with industry insiders and viewers alike closely following developments.
