Insights from a Conversation with Bushiroad CEO Takaaki Kidani
Recently, Okada spoke with Takaaki Kidani, the founder, president, and CEO of Bushiroad, which owns the majority stake in NJPW. Kidani shared on Twitter that despite the busyness of Wrestle Kingdom 20, he and Okada managed to engage in a lengthy discussion. Kidani also expressed gratitude to Okada for his dedication during his match against Hiroshi Tanahashi.
“It was hectic at the Dome, but we were able to have a long talk. Thank you for your hard work in the biggest match of the century,” wrote Kidani.
Okada Reflects on Facing Hiroshi Tanahashi in His Final Bout
In a recent interview with NJPW’s official site, Okada shared his thoughts about being the last opponent of Hiroshi Tanahashi, who is widely regarded as the Ace of Japanese wrestling. Okada revealed that his iconic Rainmaker persona was inspired by Tanahashi, making their final encounter particularly meaningful as a form of respect and repayment.
“Everything about the Rainmaker started with Tanahashi, so it makes sense to end Tanahashi’s career.. Talking about it that way sounds a little self centered (laughs) but in the end, I feel this is a repayment in a way,” said Okada.
Potential Future as AEW World Champion
Okada’s achievements and stature in the wrestling world have led to speculation about his future in AEW, with many viewing him as a likely candidate for the AEW World Championship. While his current status as International Champion solidifies his importance in the company, fans and analysts are watching closely to see how his career unfolds under the AEW banner.
His ongoing involvement in major matches and high-profile storylines reflects the strong bond between AEW and NJPW and highlights the international prestige Kazuchika Okada brings to the wrestling world.
