Kiana James Breaks WWE Language Barrier With Giulia’s Help

WWE star Kiana James has opened up about how her collaboration with WWE Women’s United States Champion Giulia helps bridge the language barrier they face backstage. Speaking on the Inside The Ring podcast, James explained that their partnership balances each other’s talents while building a shared brand in WWE. By supporting Giulia through communication challenges, James plays a key role in strengthening their alliance both inside and outside the ring.

James detailed,

“Giulia and I have (an) understanding that this relationship is a working relationship, right? And she brings her strengths to the table, I have my strengths and we think that together, that that’s mutually beneficial so there are times where she has the spotlight, there are times that I have the spotlight. But we understand that we are just working towards building our brand together and that any one of us that has the spotlight is just building up our brand.”

She further shed light on how her ability to communicate backstage helps Giulia navigate the environment.

“I mean, obviously, she’s a phenomenal in-ring competitor. She has so much knowledge that she’s been able to share with me as well. She came in and she captured gold on her own right away just coming into WWE. But I think a strength that I bring to the table, obviously, the language barrier is a little bit of a thing for her so being able to have that communication and then, this is a business, right? So, backstage, we have our General Manager, we have talent, we have locker room relationship. We have just everyone there and I think I’m able to kind of bridge that gap for her, so, we’ve been able to help each other in that way.”

Knee Injury and Mental Fortitude Shape James’s WWE Journey

Kiana James reflected on the emotional and physical impact of a recent knee injury that sidelined her for a time, emphasizing the resilience required to overcome setbacks in professional wrestling. During the podcast, she described the injury as initially devastating but ultimately a catalyst for mental growth.

“Yeah, I mean, I won’t lie, emotionally, it took a toll at first just because it’s like you work so hard to get to that point and then you feel like it’s ripped away from you. But then again, that mental toughness comes in and it’s like, okay, this happened. I can’t change it, so I can either let it define me or I can use it and I decided am I gonna be someone where this defines my career or is this just gonna be something that happened and I made a promise to myself that I would come back better and stronger and I took the time. The time when I wasn’t able to be in the ring or training in the gym, I took the time to start studying more and watching more film, because coming into WWE, everything happened really fast for me… The knee injury really allowed me to take step back and watch film and I wasn’t a lifelong fan so really, there’s decades of wrestling that I can go back and watch and study and see what resonates with me and my skillset, my strengths, my weaknesses, and I do think that I came back stronger and I think that it was definitely the mental toughness and the promise to myself to come back stronger that kind of led me to where I’m at now.”

Strengthening Bonds: Friendship with Charlotte Flair

Beyond the ring, James has developed a real-life friendship with one of WWE’s most decorated superstars, Charlotte Flair, which has provided additional support through her injury recovery. James described the experience as inspirational and rewarding, highlighting the dual role of ally and competitor they share.

“I think there’s a bittersweet to that, right? Because we’ve become partners in the gym and training through knee rehab, and things like that. But also, taking a step back and realizing, this is the most decorated woman in WWE of all-time. Being able to be like, you just did that. You just pinned the best of the best. So it was a great moment for me and it’s something that I’ll definitely remember for a long time.”

Joe Hendry Earns Praise from Trick Williams for Self-Made Success

Meanwhile, WWE star Trick Williams offered high praise for fellow wrestler Joe Hendry, describing him as a self-made talent who has taken full charge of his wrestling persona and presentation. On the Battleground podcast, Williams highlighted Hendry’s rise to prominence, noting his appearances at major WWE events even before signing with the company.

Williams stated,

“I’m excited. I’m happy for Joe Hendry. You know what I mean? He’s an extraordinary talent, and you know, dare I say self-made, man. Got it out the mud. You know, took full control of his situation. Hands-on with his entrance, with his presentation, with his character, with his entrance work, and look at what he’s done, man. He’s been in Royal Rumbles, WrestleManias, you know, before even being signed with the company. I mean, you can’t take that lightly, man. Shout out to Joe Hendry. You know what I mean? I give him all the love and respect, until you put him in the ring with me, and then he has to come second place. But, you know, shout out to Joe Hendry.”

Williams also addressed critics who attributed his own success to his association with Carmelo Hayes, emphasizing his focus on hard work and perseverance over external opinions.

“You know, like I see a lot of the comments online, just inevitably, like when you hop on your timeline, people are going to talk. You know what I mean? If you care about the craft, you know, you might look. You know what I mean? I see negative comments all the time. I see positive comments all the time. But, regardless, the sun is going to rise the next day and I got to get back to work. So, I mean, I see it all, but regardless, I had goals. I had dreams. I had a vision before I was teamed up with Melo, after I was with Melo to achieve. So it doesn’t really matter what anybody says. I ain’t got there yet. So I’m going to keep grinding.”
