Kit Wilson Opens Up on Nervous WWE Singles Debut

WWE Superstar Kit Wilson revealed his feelings about transitioning from tag team wrestling to singles competition, a move that left him unusually nervous. Currently involved in a rivalry with Matt Cardona on Friday Night SmackDown, Wilson is experiencing a significant change following the absence of his Pretty Deadly teammate, Elton Prince, due to injury.

Throughout his WWE career, Wilson had been part of a tag team duo with Prince. The British wrestler explained that adjusting to solo matches without his close friend felt like starting school for the very first time, highlighting the strong bond they share both personally and professionally.

Wilson Describes the Emotional Impact of Going Solo

In an interview on the INSIGHT podcast with Chris Van Vliet, Wilson compared his debut on SmackDown without Elton to a five-year-old attending school alone for the first time. The pair met while wrestling on the independent circuit, signed with WWE together, and have maintained a deep connection, living together and supporting each other. Wilson emphasized that they identified as one unit rather than two separate individuals.

“Oh my goodness, God, yeah. So the first day I went to SmackDown without Elton, I felt like I was five years old going to school for the first time. Because, again, we are best friends. We met on the independents. We signed together. We’ve done everything together. When we moved over to America, we live together. We talk every day. I love him, and we viewed each other as one person. We never talked to anyone and tried to talk as individuals. It was always about the team,” Wilson stated.

Wilson admitted that competing solo brought unprecedented nervousness but noted the constant support from Elton has been encouraging throughout the transition.

“So to do it on my own, I’ve never been more nervous in my life, but he’s been really supportive. We talk all the time. He’s always saying, What have you got? What you’re doing, you’re gonna smash it. He always says, Good job. So it was nice to have his support, but it was so nerve-racking going in, and now I feel like I’m finding my footing, and I feel comfortable. It’s kind of fulfilling doing this whole new part of it, but it is scary, and I miss him,” Wilson added. [H/T: chrisvanvliet.com]

Wilson’s Ambition to Capture the WWE United States Championship

During the same podcast appearance, Kit Wilson shared his aspirations to become the WWE United States Champion. He expressed a unique vision for the championship belt, wanting to split it in half and give one part to his absent tag team partner Elton Prince, while keeping the other half for himself on the SmackDown brand.
