Kofi Kingston Urges WWE to Award Xavier Woods Long-Awaited Singles Title

Published:

Former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston advocates for Xavier Woods to receive a singles championship, emphasizing this recognition is well overdue. Woods, a member of The New Day, has secured thirteen tag team titles but has yet to capture a singles title in WWE.

Xavier Woods holds the distinction of being a WWE Triple Crown Tag Team Champion, having won the main roster tag team championships twelve times alongside Big E or Kofi Kingston. Additionally, he and Kingston earned the NXT Tag Team titles once, showcasing their success as a team.

On a recent episode of the Battleground Podcast, Kofi Kingston highlighted the significance of a singles title for Woods. He praised Woods’ abilities both on the microphone and in the ring, as well as his impressive physical condition.

“I think for Xavier to have a singles title, I know that’s important to him. And I know it’s long overdue. You know what I’m saying? Talking about people who are like incredible on the mic, he’s amazing on the mic, [and] he’s amazing in the ring. His physique, I don’t know if you’ve seen him, his body game up,” said Kingston.

Kingston stressed that Xavier Woods deserves to achieve that elusive singles gold and expressed determination to pressure WWE RAW General Manager Adam Pearce to make it happen.

“He deserves to have singles gold. It’s long overdue, you know? So, we’re going to keep on putting the pressure on the bald-headed tyrant, that’s Adam Pierce, the General Manager of RAW. And we’re going to force him to make that happen at some point in time,” Kingston added.

Update on Xavier Woods’ Neck Injury and WWE’s Response

During a singles match on the August 18 edition of Monday Night RAW, Xavier Woods sustained a neck injury after taking Penta’s Mexican Driver move. Despite the severity of the injury and calls for Adam Pearce to ban the move, Woods has continued to wrestle on RAW without extended time off.

Kofi Kingston commented on Woods’ resilience in the face of injury, illustrating his dedication despite being advised to rest. Kingston revealed that Woods is effectively being compelled to compete by General Manager Adam Pearce, yet he refuses to complain or step back.

“He’s been trying to take it easy, but he’s just so benevolent, and he works diligently, you know, he doesn’t have any quit in him. A lesser man would have been home laid up trying to rehab, but Woods is out there every single week, you know, out there doing it. And that, yes, he’s being forced by that bald-headed tyrant, Adam Pierce, you know. He’s being forced, but he’s out there, and he’s doing it. That’s the kind of guy he is. He’s not gonna sit around and complain about it, he just goes out and he gets the job done,” he said.

New Alliances and Future Prospects on RAW

Alongside Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods, Grayson Waller has emerged as an ally on Monday Night RAW. The trio frequently appears on the red brand, though WWE’s long-term plans for them remain unclear. With Woods yet to claim singles gold, his supporters are actively working toward ensuring he gains that recognition soon.

Kingston’s advocacy highlights the importance of acknowledging Xavier Woods not only as a tag team specialist but as a formidable singles competitor. As pressure mounts on WWE management, fans and wrestlers alike await developments that could finally see Woods crowned a singles champion.
