Kris Statlander has revealed her evolving approach as she prepares for her AEW Women’s World Championship opportunity at All Out, emphasizing that 2025 will mark a pivotal year in her Kris Statlander Solo Journey. Speaking on the AEW Unrestricted podcast with Aubrey Edwards and Will Washington, she described this upcoming match as both a moment of redemption and a clear indication of her current career direction.
Facing All Out Again: A Chance for Redemption
<pStatlander reflected on returning to All Out, the very event where she last competed for the title in 2021. She acknowledged the contrast between that earlier singles match and her current four-way challenge, noting the difference in circumstances. “I failed the world title in a singles match, and now I’m in a multi-man match at All Out, the same pay-per-view,” she said. “So maybe I’ll have reverse odds this time. Weird little things.” Rather than seeing the multi-man format as a hurdle, she welcomes the unpredictability it brings. “I love a multi-man. I love the chaos. So I’m very much so looking forward to it.”
Rebuilding as an Independent Competitor
Describing the period from 2024 through the majority of 2025 as her “reformation year,” Statlander detailed how she is actively reshaping her identity as a singles wrestler, moving beyond previous alliances.
“Most of 2024 and the majority of 2025 has been me just kind of trying to figure out the ropes on my own and just be my own wrestler,”
she explained. This new self-focus has led to tensions with some colleagues, especially Willow Nightingale.
“You really have to start being selfish at a certain point… I have to do it for me, and not to make anybody else proud, not to make anybody else happy. But I have to do it to prove something to myself.”
Unpredictable Interactions and Ongoing Challenges
Statlander’s journey also involves complicated interactions with peers such as Wheeler Yuta, who often appears unexpectedly to offer advice she did not ask for. She admitted uncertainty about his true intentions.
“Honestly, I feel like he’s probably snuck an AirTag in my suitcase or something. He just keeps showing up uninvited. I don’t know what his deal is.”
Though she recognizes criticism from fans and fellow wrestlers, she closed the discussion with a light-hearted remark.
“I can understand why everyone’s upset with me, but I will say I never put a bag over anyone’s head. So that’s my closing statement.”
Looking Ahead: Turning Self-Reliance Into Victory
As the All Out pay-per-view approaches, Statlander aims to translate her independence and hard-earned lessons into championship success. Her Kris Statlander Solo Journey, marked by personal growth and resilience, seeks completion with a title win that would validate her evolution as a competitor and solidify her place at the top of AEW’s women’s division.
