In a recent interview with WMUL FM’s Rope Break, AEW star Kyle Fletcher shared the wrestlers who have strongly influenced his in-ring approach and career path. Drawing from a range of WWE legends, Japanese wrestlers, and current stars, Fletcher highlighted the diverse sources behind his unique wrestling style.

Early Influences From WWE and Personal Favorites

Fletcher revealed how his initial passion for wrestling was sparked by some iconic figures from WWE.

“I mean, I think like anyone, I had my favorites. Jeff Hardy was my first favorite, the man that made me fall in love with wrestling,”

Fletcher stated. He also mentioned another WWE star who left an impression on him:

“I think you can probably see things in my wrestling style that emulate that. Then also The Miz was another one that I loved growing up. I kind of take inspiration from all these people.”

Growing Passion for Japanese Wrestling and Modern Stars

As Kyle Fletcher’s interest deepened, he developed a strong admiration for Japanese wrestling and its standout performers. He acknowledged how this shift shaped his style significantly.

“My love of Japanese wrestling kind of took over. So then it was Jushin Liger. He first got me into it. Prince Devitt as well, and then one of the founders of AEW, Kenny Omega. They were kind of my guys, and then I still take inspiration from them nowadays,”

Fletcher explained.

Impact on Wrestling Philosophy and Style

For Fletcher, these influences extended beyond techniques into his overall philosophy as a professional wrestler.

“I think they really kind of molded me — molded what I love about pro wrestling. I think those guys kind of encapsulate it. So yeah, I took a lot of inspiration from those people,”

he said, highlighting how these icons helped define what he enjoys most in the sport.

Kyle Fletcher’s Emerging Role in AEW and Tag Team Excellence

At just 26 years old, the Australian-born wrestler has quickly risen as one of AEW’s most promising talents.
