Mercedes Moné has announced her upcoming return to the ring, but she will continue to remain on hiatus from All Elite Wrestling (AEW) for the time being. The former AEW star is focusing on appearances outside the company, choosing to compete elsewhere while maintaining her break from AEW commitments. This decision follows her recent announcement of an indefinite absence from AEW, made by the promotion’s CEO last month, after she experienced multiple setbacks such as losing her TBS Championship to Willow Nightingale and missing out on the women’s tag team titles.
CMLL recently confirmed that Mercedes Moné will participate in their all-women event, La Noche De Las Amazonas, scheduled for March 6 at Arena Mexico. She is expected to defend the CMLL Women’s World Championship against a yet-to-be-named opponent. This marks her first match in Mexico since October, when she successfully defended her title against Persephone.
Mercedes Moné Has Several Prominent Events Scheduled Beyond AEW Rings
Although Mercedes Moné has paused her AEW appearances, she remains actively involved in defending her other championship titles internationally. Two upcoming matches have been officially confirmed. Just two days after her bout in Mexico, she is set to travel to Italy to defend the BestYa Women’s Championship against Swan.
Following these events, Moné will make a high-profile appearance in Winnipeg, Canada, where she will put her WPW Women’s Championship on the line. This match is scheduled for March 31 at the Manitoba Museum and will feature the winner of the promotion’s Women’s VOYAGEUR CUP Tournament as her challenger.
Moné’s decision to compete frequently outside AEW appears to be a strategic move to maintain her form and momentum ahead of an eventual return to the company. Whether she can capitalize on these opportunities or face continued challenges remains uncertain, adding an element of anticipation to her career trajectory moving forward.
