AEW Star Powerhouse Hobbs Eyes Acting Career Like John Cena

Published:

Powerhouse Hobbs, a prominent figure and champion in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has revealed his ambition to pursue an acting career, inspired by wrestlers like John Cena and MJF who successfully expanded their careers beyond the ring. Since joining the Tony Khan-led AEW promotion in 2020, Hobbs has made a significant impact inside the squared circle and now looks to broaden his horizons with plans for television and film appearances.

Current Wrestling Success and Championship Victory

Known as the Embodiment of Willpower, Hobbs has been a key member of a formidable trio alongside Katsuyori Shibata and Samoa Joe. This group formed when Samoa Joe stepped in to replace the injured Hook in their AEW World Trios Championship match against The Death Riders. They claimed the titles from Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta during the Dynamite: Spring BreakThru event earlier this year. Since securing the championship, Hobbs and his stable have successfully defended their titles against tough competition, including Bullet Club War Dogs at Forbidden Door 2025, as well as Ricochet and GOA on a recent episode of Dynamite.

Hobbs Confirms Ambitions During Recent Interview

In a candid interview with Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Hobbs was asked about his interest in an acting career similar to some of AEW’s biggest names. He enthusiastically confirmed that branching out into acting is part of his future plans.

“Oh yeah, most definitely, man. Who doesn’t want to see me on the big screen or on their TV, besides you know, beating up people weekly? That’s definitely in the plan.” —Powerhouse Hobbs

Recent In-Ring Performance and AEW Storyline Developments

Hobbs showcased his dominance in AEW with a swift win over Max Caster in a singles match at the June Dynamite: Fyter Fest event, securing victory in under a minute. More recently, Hobbs was involved in a tense storyline on AEW Dynamite when The Death Riders targeted Darby Allin. The babyfaces received help from Hook, The Opps, and Willow Nightingale to fend off the heel faction.

Backstage, Hook confronted Hobbs and Samoa Joe, expressing frustration over them stepping in during his absence and objecting to Samoa Joe replacing him with The Monstar while injured. Hobbs and Joe explained that Hobbs joined the faction to help defeat The Death Riders. Despite their assurances that The Opps remain loyal to Hook, it was clear that Hook was not fully satisfied with the dialogue. Hobbs and Hook share history as former Team Taz stable-mates, adding depth to their current conflict.

The Significance of Hobbs’ Career Aspirations

Powerhouse Hobbsgoal to enter acting mirrors a growing trend among wrestling stars who use their athletic backgrounds to launch successful entertainment careers. With his strong presence in AEW and championship performances, Hobbs has laid a solid foundation for this transition. If Hobbs follows paths similar to John Cena and Samoa Joe, fans can expect to see him expanding his reach beyond wrestling in the near future, potentially attracting new audiences to AEW and his personal brand.
