Roman Reigns has charted a new course by aiming to excel simultaneously as a WWE superstar and a Hollywood actor, a plan he detailed during his conversation with Stephanie McMahon on her What’s Your Story podcast. Unlike previous WWE icons such as The Rock, John Cena, and Batista, who eventually left wrestling to pursue acting full-time, Reigns wants to maintain his top position in WWE while advancing his film career.
Striving to Lead in Both Sports and Entertainment Worlds
The former Undisputed WWE Champion emphasized his unique approach to balancing these demanding careers, saying,
“It’s hard to be able to truly say it, but I’m different than any superstar that’s ever done it now. I was told early on that in order to really go to the next level, you had to choose one or the other. I wanted to be the first guy who could do both. To damn near lead a movie, and then also still main event a pay-per-view, and to have that type of responsibility.”

While Reigns recognizes the way stars like John Cena have managed dual careers, he believes his path will take this balance even further. He insists that his identity as a WWE superstar remains central.
“I don’t want to stop being a WWE superstar in order to wear other hats. I’m always going to be a WWE superstar. I’m always going to be Roman Reigns. And I don’t want to ever have to choose.”

A New Era for WWE Stars Pursuing Multiple Careers
Reigns also highlighted how the professional landscape has evolved since earlier WWE stars moved into Hollywood. He remarked on the shifting dynamic that now allows performers to engage meaningfully in both fields.
“In the past, performers had to choose one career over the other. But I think we’ve evolved and grown. We’re in a different place now.”

This evolution provides an opening for Reigns to pioneer the combined path, positioning himself as a leader across sports entertainment and film. His vision signals a new chapter for WWE stars seeking to diversify without sacrificing their wrestling prominence.
