Samoa Joe, one of the most decorated wrestlers in modern professional wrestling, is currently on break from All Elite Wrestling (AEW) but has announced he will return soon. The 46-year-old, known for his accomplishments across WWE, TNA, and AEW, shared that his comeback is pending final medical clearances. Fans eagerly await this Samoa Joe AEW return update as he is a prominent figure in the company’s current roster.
Joe’s accolades in AEW include being a former AEW World Champion, a two-time TNT Champion, and currently holding the World Trios Championship alongside Powerhouse Hobbs and Katsuyori Shibata. The trio, collectively called The Opps, remains a significant force within AEW programming.
Balancing Wrestling with Acting on Twisted Metal
Outside of wrestling, Samoa Joe has been focusing on his role as Marcus Kane, also known as Sweet Tooth, in the second season of the Peacock series Twisted Metal. Based on the popular video game franchise and created by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Michael Jonathan Smith, the show has drawn attention for its intense action scenes. Joe’s recent absence from AEW television has been attributed to his commitment to promoting this new season, which is now streaming.
Insight on Injury During Twisted Metal Filming
During a recent interview with PWInsider, Joe clarified details regarding an injury that occurred while filming Twisted Metal. Contrary to expectations, his injury did not happen during stunt work but rather from a simple accident while parking his car. He explained that after performing complicated driving stunts, he twisted his ankle stepping out onto rough asphalt, which caused him to limp and tape it for the remainder of filming.

“We had done a series of pretty crazy driving stunts and some dangerous things here and there. Then it was just parking, and I had to hop out the back on some really rocky, busted-up asphalt. I turned my ankle and spent the rest of the season taping it up and limping through it,” Samoa Joe said.
Anticipation Builds for Samoa Joe’s Return to AEW
Joe’s deep respect within AEW leadership, including Tony Khan, and his popularity among fans underscores the significance of his pending return. His statement during the PWInsider interview indicated the comeback will happen “sooner than later,” once all medical protocols are completed, signaling to fans and peers that he is ready to resume his in-ring career.
“Definitely sooner than later. We’re clearing our various medical protocols, and as soon as we’re done with that, we’ll be back to business,” the former world champion said.
This Samoa Joe AEW return update brings hope to the wrestling community, as the veteran’s blend of skill and charisma remains a vital part of AEW’s dynamic roster. Fans can expect his reappearance on AEW programming in the near future, renewing the excitement around his continued contributions to the sport.
