Samoa Joe, known for his work in All Elite Wrestling, performs all the on-camera lines for the Sweet Tooth character in the Twisted Metal series, while actor Will Arnett provides the voice heard by audiences. Recently, Joe discussed the possibility of hearing his own voice for Sweet Tooth and the chances of a new Twisted Metal game during an interview with WrestleZone Senior Editor Matt Black.
Rumors Surrounding a New Twisted Metal Game
When asked about the potential for another Twisted Metal video game, Samoa Joe acknowledged hearing some whispers but remained uncertain about their credibility. He mentioned that a studio once involved in development is no longer affiliated with Sony, casting doubt on current plans.
Ahh… rumblings, yes. How substantial those are, I don’t know,
Samoa Joe said.
I know at one time there was a studio tapped [to make a new game] and that studio is no longer part of the Sony family. So yeah, I don’t have any solid answers for you. But I will say your sentiment is echoed by many people and many game players.
Joe expressed enthusiasm about the idea of a new game given the show’s popularity, noting that he is a gamer himself and would welcome such a development if fans continue to push for it.

Me being a game player myself, I wouldn’t mind seeing a new Twisted Metal. So let’s just hope a lot of positive requests in that direction might make that materialize. I could see it being something [good], because obviously the show’s a lot of fun. I think a lot of people are going to enjoy it. What better way to celebrate the show than with an equally awesome video game?

Insights into Working with Will Arnett
Regarding collaboration with Will Arnett, who provides the voiceover for Sweet Tooth, Samoa Joe revealed they had discussions at the start of production to align on the character’s tone and delivery. Joe pays close attention to Arnett’s pacing, leaving space in his performances so the voiceover matches the rhythm naturally.
Mainly, me and Will got together at the beginning of production. We [went] over what we wanted the tone of the character to be, the expectation,
Samoa Joe explained.
Me personally, just listening to Will, just understanding his cadence and how much time he likes to inhabit on a line of dialogue, I try to leave him that same amount of space when it comes time for him to dub over.
He described the process as collaborative and smooth, allowing them to produce the on-screen Sweet Tooth character effectively. Both performers have appreciated each other’s work and hope the partnership continues in future seasons.
Yeah, collaborating with Will, getting the tone and getting the temperature right of the character, and then sending him the best takes we can for him to choose from to produce the Sweet Tooth you see on screen. It’s a collaborative process; it’s got a lot of steps. But it’s managed to be pretty seamless and without any big complications. It’s been pretty smooth. He’s enjoyed my work, I’ve enjoyed his, and hopefully, that will continue for seasons to come.
Will Samoa Joe’s Voice Ever Be Used in Twisted Metal?
A key question posed to Samoa Joe was whether there might be an alternate edit featuring his own voice for Sweet Tooth released, especially by Peacock. Joe admitted he did not know if such a version would surface but remained grounded about his role and recognition.
I don’t have the foggiest [idea],
Joe confessed.
I don’t. But I will say this — the cast and crew have always been super supportive and awesome, but I am a firm believer we’ve created something awesome that fans enjoy. I’m not one to go and change the recipe for an ego trip. If I need to feel good about myself, I can walk into any arena in America and get people to chant my name. I feel a little bit better, and it’s not that bad, so I don’t mind sharing the billing with Mr. Arnett.
His comments reflect a humble acceptance of the collaborative nature of the project and a focus on creating quality entertainment rather than seeking personal spotlight.
Looking Ahead for Twisted Metal and Samoa Joe’s Role
The current Twisted Metal series has sparked excitement among fans both of the franchise and wrestling enthusiasts. Samoa Joe’s nuanced involvement—physically embodying Sweet Tooth while Will Arnett provides his distinctive voice—adds a unique layer to the show’s production. The prospect of a new video game tied to the series remains uncertain but hopeful, with gamer enthusiasm and fan support potentially influencing Sony’s decisions.
For now, fans can appreciate the combined efforts that bring Sweet Tooth to life and watch for any announcements regarding future episodes or expanded franchise projects.
