Seth Rollins Urges Bears Fans: “Pump the Brakes” After 0-2 Start

Published:

The Chicago Bears have begun the NFL season with an 0-2 record, leaving fans anxious as they adjust to new leadership under coach Ben Johnson and quarterback Caleb Williams. Despite the rough start, WWE World Heavyweight Champion and passionate Bears supporter Seth Rollins is urging fans to remain patient amid the team’s rebuilding phase.

Rollins responded to questions about his favorite team on Tuesday, emphasizing that the team’s current struggles are part of a larger development process.

“Patience, baby, you got to wait,” Rollins said, via “Get Up.” “This is a developmental process. First year with Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams. This is third head coach in two seasons, fourth OC in two seasons. I mean, let’s just pump the brakes. A little pump the brakes.”

Early Challenges for the Bears Under New Leadership

The Bears’ season opener against the Minnesota Vikings revealed several promising moments from rookie quarterback Caleb Williams, who completed 13 of 16 passes for 112 yards with a touchdown while also rushing for 32 yards. However, his effectiveness waned in the second half, as his completion rate dropped considerably and his off-target passes increased to one of the highest percentages among NFL quarterbacks during Week 1.

In their Week 2 matchup against the Detroit Lions, Williams completed 19 of 30 passes for 207 yards, threw two touchdowns, and had one interception. He also added 27 rushing yards. Although the Bears suffered a heavy 52-21 loss, Williams demonstrated progress in certain areas, yet his consistency and decision-making remain key areas for improvement.

Coach Ben Johnson Highlights Caleb Williams’ Growth

After the Week 2 defeat, Bears coach Ben Johnson reflected on Williams’ development under his guidance.

“I did see significant growth,” Johnson said. “It’s not perfect yet but I did see tremendous growth in terms of going through the progression.”

The connection between Williams and receiver Rome Odunze showed signs of promise, as the duo connected for two touchdowns against Detroit, marking their third combined scoring play in just two games.

Williams himself was candid about the offensive struggles, focusing on the need for consistency and execution at the individual level.

“I think it’s just (the offense)being consistent in the way of our technique (and) the plays that are called,” Williams said.

“And going out there and being technical about it and beating the man in front of you. That includes myself. Don’t try to create any explosive plays. Don’t try to be Superman, and they’ll come. Everybody just did their one-eleventh, and we keep moving on.”

Bears Look Ahead to Key Matchups as Fans Wait for Momentum

The Bears now turn their attention to Week 3 as they prepare to face the Dallas Cowboys. Despite the early setbacks, both Johnson and Williams remain focused on building a foundation of steady progress. Fans are being asked to temper their expectations while the team moves through coaching staff transitions, which have included three head coaches and four offensive coordinators within two seasons.

Seth Rollins’ plea to “pump the brakes” captures the broader sentiment that this season is a rebuilding year for Chicago, with patience considered essential as new tactics and player dynamics take shape. The Bears’ performance in the next few weeks will be critical to determining if the adjustments and growth promised by coaching staff and players translate into wins.
