WWE Legend Shane Helms Shares SummerSlam Injury Update Ahead of Friday Night SmackDown Live

Published:

WWE veteran Shane Helms, known as Hurricane, has provided a SummerSlam WWE injury update ahead of the upcoming Friday Night SmackDown broadcast from Montreal. Helms disclosed that he fractured his ring finger, sharing an X-ray image on Instagram to confirm the extent of his injury.

The 52-year-old wrestler and backstage producer posted a selfie on his Instagram story showing his hand in a cast as he traveled to Montreal for the live show. He remarked,

“Captain Fat Knuckles otw to Montreal!”

showcasing his injury humorously despite the setback.

Recent Controversy Surrounding Shane Helms and Vince Russo

Shane Helms has recently been involved in a tense exchange following some remarks he made about Vince Russo’s controversial promo involving Hulk Hogan from 25 years ago. Helms described the promo as embarrassing on his X/Twitter account last month, which elicited a sharp response from Russo.

Vince Russo, who is 64 years old, expressed frustration on Sportskeeda’s The Wrestling Outlaws about Helms’ comments, highlighting that he had played a key role in launching Helms’ early career through the 3 Count faction in WCW. Russo criticized Helms for taking shots at him despite the help he provided when no one knew who Helms was before that group.

“Did anybody know who Shane Helms was before 3 Count? Did anybody know who the dude was? I am so sick and tired of these freaking guys that I helped out, and then to get over with the marks and to get the pop from the marks, ‘Oh, let’s take a cheap shot at Vince Russo.’ Bro, grow the F up. I’m so sick and tired of these guys. I’m certainly not gonna take any bulls**t from Shane Helms,” Russo said.

Shane Helms’ Wrestling Status and Future Prospects

Helms’ last in-ring appearance was at the 2021 Royal Rumble Premium Live Event where he competed under his Hurricane Helms persona in the famed 30-man match. Following this, he signed a Legends contract with WWE in 2022, shifting his focus more toward behind-the-scenes roles.

With the recent injury update and Helms’ involvement in Friday Night SmackDown, speculation remains about whether he might make a comeback to active wrestling. His current condition and ongoing storyline developments will likely influence any future appearances inside the ring.
