Toni Storm Calls AEW’s RJ City a “Fall Guy” Behind Timeless Flair

Published:

Toni Storm, currently holding the AEW Women’s World Championship for the fourth time, is set to defend her title at All Out in a four-way match against Jamie Hayter, Kris Statlander, and Thekla. The Australian wrestler’s Timeless persona has earned widespread acclaim, but Storm recently shared a surprising perspective on the role of AEW personality RJ City in crafting that character.

Storm’s Timeless gimmick is a fan favorite and considered one of the standout women’s wrestling characters of this era. Despite common belief crediting RJ City with creating Timeless Toni Storm, the 29-year-old insisted in an interview that City contributes little to the character’s development, labeling him a “fall guy” and expressing uncertainty about his official status within AEW.

“There is a misconception as well that RJ City…I don’t know if you’ve heard of him. Probably not, but there is this misconception that he is the brain behind this whole thing. I must put the rumors to rest. He does absolutely nothing. I think they just keep him around so if something goes wrong, we have someone to blame. He is more of a fall guy. He may be an intern. I’m not sure if he works there.” said Storm. [H/T: No DQ]

Toni Storm’s Commitment to AEW and Career Future

After joining All Elite Wrestling in 2022 following her tenure in WWE, Toni Storm quickly rose to prominence under the guidance of AEW President Tony Khan. The Australian star has expressed a strong desire to remain with AEW for the foreseeable future. In a recent conversation on the Sandman podcast, Storm described herself as an AEW lifer, emphasizing her long-term contract and dedication to the company based in Jacksonville.

“When I’m done wrestling, you’ll never see me again..There’s no encore. This (run) is it. I’m not doing anything else. Where would I go, what would I do? Because I’m on a long deal for AEW. I’ve signed my life to AEW. I’m on a five-year deal… but I’m a lifer for AEW,” said Storm

Her firm commitment suggests that Toni Storm aims to define her legacy within AEW rather than returning to WWE or pursuing other avenues. Fans will be watching closely to see how this dedication affects her career trajectory and influence in the wrestling world.
