Tony Khan has recently implemented significant changes in AEW’s production meeting format, which may explain the wrestling promotion’s growing success this year. The Jacksonville-based company, known for its strong performances in the first half of the year, continued gaining traction with its major event All In: Texas and subsequent shows.
New Approach to AEW Production Meetings Enhances Coordination
Until recently, Tony Khan conducted production meetings separately, meeting each group involved in the show one-on-one throughout the day. Bryan Alvarez, speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, described Khan’s previous process:
“Tony’s production meeting was, well, I go and I meet with these guys and then I go meet with these guys… He just did these meetings throughout the day and that was what he considered production meetings.”
Realizing this was not the standard industry practice, Khan shifted to a more collective approach by gathering all relevant personnel in a single room to discuss the show in detail before it airs. Alvarez noted this adjustment:
“Other people were like, that’s not a production meeting. So, the point of this is, of late, he actually is now doing production meetings,” said Alvarez.
AEW Dynamite Viewership Shows Positive Trends Despite Minor Demographic Shift
The second AEW Dynamite episode following All In: Texas demonstrated encouraging signs, as the promotion builds toward its next major pay-per-view event, Forbidden Door, scheduled for late August. According to data from Wrestlenomics, the show saw a 3% increase in total viewers, rising from 508,000 to 608,000.
Despite this growth, the key 18-49 demographic rating experienced a slight decrease from 0.15 to 0.14. AEW Dynamite continues to trail WWE’s NXT, which attracted 747,000 viewers during the same week.
Upcoming AEW Dynamite Features High-Stakes Title Rematch
This week’s AEW Dynamite is expected to generate more excitement by presenting a rematch from the All In: Texas main event. “Hangman” Adam Page is set to defend the world championship against Jon Moxley, with a ringside ban in place that prohibits any interference.
This intense matchup could mark a pivotal moment for AEW, continuing to leverage the momentum gained from recent successful pay-per-views and improvements behind the scenes in production coordination.
As AEW evolves under Tony Khan’s guidance, these production meeting changes may contribute to more cohesive shows and stronger audience engagement in the future.
