Tony Khan has confirmed that he has created championship belts for the AEW women’s tag team division. During a post-event press conference following All In, Khan shared that while the belts exist, their introduction has been postponed due to injuries within the roster. This plan had been a goal of his since May and remains an important future objective for AEW.
Injuries Delay Plans to Launch Women’s Tag Team Titles
Speaking on the podcast Wrestfriends with Iridian Fierro, Khan reiterated that the belts have already been made but will only be put into play when the best roster is available. He cited numerous injuries sustained by female wrestlers, many occurring during the Casino Gauntlet match at All In, which impacted the division significantly. Khan expressed regret about the situation, noting the large number of competitors who were sidelined.
“I have the belts. I made the belts. They exist.”

“But I will put them into play when we are able to put the very best roster forward.”

Impact of Wrestler Injuries on Division Depth and Title Introduction
Khan detailed that nearly a quarter of the wrestlers involved in the Casino Gauntlet were injured and removed from action indefinitely. He specifically referenced Syuri’s much-anticipated debut, which was followed by her requiring elbow surgery, as well as injuries to Mina Shirakawa and Thunder Rosa. Jamie Hayter, described by Khan as a vital member of the division, has also been out due to injury.

“I have a bunch of people I would like to get involved in a women’s tag team tournament potentially. There has been so much injury in the women’s division and as the person who put together the women’s casino gauntlet, I wish that we had come out of it healthier. A quarter of the people in the match got knocked out of the match and out of action indefinitely.”

“One of the most important women in the division is Jamie Hayter, who also has been out.”
— Tony Khan
“I do want to get the division healthy because if I tried to do it right now, I would be missing a lot of the people and I could do the tournament, but then I wouldn’t be able to have a healthy singles division at the same time.”
— Tony Khan
Future Prospects for the Women’s Tag Team Championship in AEW
Khan’s cautious approach aims to ensure that when the AEW women’s tag team championships are introduced, they will be contested by a fully healthy and competitive roster. This highlights the promotion’s focus on maintaining the quality and excitement of both the tag team and singles divisions. Fans can expect the titles to debut once AEW’s women’s division has recovered and key wrestlers have returned to active competition.
