Tony Khan Opens Up on Chris Jericho’s AEW Future and Possible Return

Published:

Tony Khan has expressed a strong desire to work with Chris Jericho in AEW again, but whether that will happen remains uncertain. Jericho has not competed since April 6 at the AEW Dynasty event, where he lost the ROH World Championship to Bandido. Shortly after, Jericho appeared on AEW Dynamite but walked away from his on-screen allies from the Learning Tree, Big Bill and Bryan Keith, which effectively ended his television presence for now.

Although Jericho is still under contract with AEW until December 2025, speculation is rife that he may return to WWE. Jericho himself has indicated openness to a WWE comeback under the right conditions, and insiders from both AEW and WWE expect him to make a move once his current contract permits.

Tony Khan’s Deep Respect for Chris Jericho

At the ROH Death Before Dishonor media call, Tony Khan addressed Jericho’s situation, emphasizing the immense respect and gratitude he holds for Jericho. Khan credited Jericho with playing a pivotal role in AEW’s early success, acknowledging that neither he nor the company would be where they are today without Jericho’s contributions.

Khan praised Jericho’s status within AEW and ROH, stating that Jericho is regarded with the highest esteem by everyone involved. He spoke fondly of Jericho’s influence as a champion and leader, as well as his importance in the acquisition and development of ROH.

“I’m very fortunate to work with him. So if and when the time presents itself, hopefully, [I’d] love to have Chris back. I think the world of him. Chris Jericho is always in the highest of standing with me and with AEW and ROH where he has been a great champion, a great ambassador, a great leader and a great friend to all of us.”

Implications for AEW and Jericho’s Next Moves

The ongoing uncertainty about Jericho’s future in AEW leaves many questions unanswered about the direction of both his career and the company’s plans. Having Jericho back would represent a significant boost for AEW, given his stature and legacy within the organization. Khan’s statements underline the desire to bring him back if circumstances allow, signaling that Jericho remains a valued part of AEW’s vision.

As the industry watches closely, Jericho’s eventual decision—whether to stay with AEW or return to WWE—will have major implications. This situation reflects the fragile nature of wrestling contracts and talent dynamics at the highest levels, making Jericho’s path a key storyline in itself for fans and professionals alike.
