AEW President and CEO Tony Khan addressed the possibility of renaming the AEW World Championship to officially become the AEW Men’s World Championship during the post-All Out media scrum. This potential change highlights ongoing discussions within AEW about how the title is presented and recorded.
Tony Khan Supports Hangman Page’s Preference
Khan acknowledged that the idea has gained significant attention and is worth considering. He said,
“
It’s gotten great traction, it’s something to consider.
”
He emphasized that, while official records remain unchanged, the way the title is referred to in graphics and promotions matters to the current champion.
Khan further explained,
“
For the official record keeping, it’s as it has been, but for Hangman, for his graphics, for describing what it is, that’s something that is important to him and if that’s something that he believes in, and that’s his authentic self and that’s how he wants the title presented, that’s something I support and believe in.
”
This reflects AEW’s willingness to respect the champion’s personal connection to the title’s identity.
Hangman Page’s Role Influences the Title Naming
With Hangman Page reigning as AEW World Champion at present, Khan noted this is the driving factor behind the possible renaming. He stated,
“
I think it works great both ways so it’s a great question but definitely with Hangman as the World Champion, he asked me about that, with Hangman Page for the foreseeable future is the World Champion, no end in sight, it is the Men’s World Championship right now.
”
Implications for AEW Championship Presentation Going Forward
The discussion led by Tony Khan about the AEW Men’s World Championship rename signals a potential adjustment in how the championship will be marketed and recorded. This change could reflect evolving branding strategies while honoring the champion’s personal identity, possibly setting a precedent for future title presentations within AEW.
