Tony Khan on WWE Legend Bryan Danielson’s New AEW Role Revealed

Published:

AEW recently welcomed WWE legend Bryan Danielson into a full-time commentary position, a move Tony Khan openly supported and explained. Danielson, who debuted in AEW at the 2021 All Out event in Jacksonville, made a significant impact as a wrestler before retiring after his final match at WrestleDream 2024. Now, the celebrated former ring star has shifted his focus to calling AEW Dynamite events every Wednesday night.

Tony Khan revealed the reasoning behind Danielson’s new role during an appearance on The Battleground podcast. He mentioned observing Bryan’s capabilities in the commentary booth during the Forbidden Door event, which convinced him that Danielson could excel in this capacity.

“I really thought Bryan would be a great part of the commentary team. He did a fantastic job on Forbidden Door. So I had talked to him maybe after his promotional tour of Australia was complete about Bryan joining us on Wednesday, and it worked out perfect.” —Tony Khan, AEW President
