WWE executive Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque is encountering significant backstage criticism as plans for WrestleMania 42 continue to evolve. Sources indicate the frequent creative revisions have raised concerns about the event’s overall direction and financial performance, particularly reflected in the early ticket sales.
WrestleMania 42 Ticket Sales Lags Behind Previous Year
Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reported that ticket advance sales are approximately 18% below last year’s figures. This decline has caused worry among WWE insiders about the event’s momentum as they prepare for one of the company’s largest annual shows.
“Essentially, what the way it was described to me is, and this makes no sense, but this is how I was told is that they’re very disappointed with the advance. It’s down about 18% from last year,”
Meltzer said.
Frequent Creative Plan Changes Cause Frustration within WWE
The dissatisfaction reportedly stems from a perception that decisions are constantly being altered, reminiscent of past periods where last-minute creative adjustments caused internal instability. Such volatility has left some staff questioning the consistency of leadership in finalizing the WrestleMania card.
“So there’s been a lot of internal criticism of Paul Levesque, as far as, like, not keeping, you know, they keep changing the plans, essentially, like Vince,… they have a plan, and then they change the plan,”
Meltzer added.
Other Factors Impacting Ticket Sales Beyond Creative Issues
Meltzer also noted external elements that could be influencing ticket demand. Higher pricing compared to the previous year and a decrease in tourism to Las Vegas due to travel challenges have been cited as contributing difficulties for the event’s ticket movement, potentially compounding the impact of the creative instability.
“The problems are number one, ticket prices are really high, higher than last year. Number two, a lot of foreigners won’t come to the United States right now… I mean, tourism in Vegas is down,”
he explained.
WWE Aims to Strengthen WrestleMania 42 as Event Nears
Despite these setbacks, WWE remains confident WrestleMania 42 will eventually sell out. With the company focusing on finalizing the roster in the weeks ahead, efforts are underway to regain momentum and secure the event’s success in Las Vegas.
