Early Life and Background
Nathan Troy Blauvelt was born in Van Nuys, California, on March 17, 1987. He grew up in the San Fernando Valley area of Los Angeles, a region with deep connections to the hardcore punk and wrestling scenes that would later shape his career. Before stepping into a wrestling ring, Blauvelt worked a day job in the car park of the Kia Forum, the long-time home of major concerts and live events in Inglewood.
Blauvelt was already deeply involved in the Los Angeles hardcore music community before pursuing professional wrestling. His connections within that scene, including friendships with members of bands such as Twitching Tongues, would eventually lead him to co-found the band God’s Hate. The dual immersion in music and combat sports helped establish the aggressive identity that he would later bring into the squared circle under the Brody King ring name.
Path to Professional Wrestling
Nathan Troy Blauvelt trained at the Santinos Bros Academy in Bell Gardens, California, before making his professional wrestling debut in 2015. He adopted the ring name Brody King as a tribute to two influential figures in the industry: Bruiser Brody and Brodie Lee. The name reflected both his appreciation for wrestling history and the hard-edged character he wanted to portray.
Early in his in-ring career, Brody King competed on the California independent circuit, working promotions across the region and building a reputation for physical matches. In 2016, he won the All Pro Wrestling Young Lions Cup, an early tournament victory that signaled his potential. He balanced his wrestling bookings with his music commitments, eventually helping to release God’s Hate’s debut EP Divine Injustice in 2014, a year that overlapped with the earliest stages of his training.
