Jack Perry Bio
Jack Perry (born June 16, 1997) is an American professional wrestler signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Performing under the ring name “Jungle” Jack Perry, he is best known for his work as one-half of the tag team Jurassic Express alongside the dinosaur-themed wrestler Luchasaurus. Over the course of his career, Perry has competed across multiple promotions, including appearances in New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and has held the AEW World Tag Team Championship, the FTW Championship, and the AEW TNT Championship.
Early Life and Background
Jack Perry was born on June 16, 1997, in Los Angeles, California. He is the son of actor Luke Perry and Rachel Sharp, and his maternal grandfather was the Scottish novelist and screenwriter Alan Sharp. Growing up in a creative household, Perry developed an early fascination with professional wrestling and attended WWE’s 2009 SummerSlam pay-per-view event in Los Angeles with his father at the age of twelve. That experience helped shape his interest in pursuing a career inside the squared circle.
Path to Professional Wrestling
Perry began training for a wrestling career as a teenager and made his professional debut in 2015 on the independent circuit. He first performed under the ring name Nate Coy at Underground Empire Wrestling’s 2015 West Coast Cruiser Cup, where fans quickly began chanting “Jungle Boy” at him because of his resemblance to the legendary Tarzan character. He embraced the name and the persona, and by November 2016 he had captured the 2016 West Coast Cruiser Cup. In 2018, he won the All Pro Wrestling Junior Heavyweight Championship, his first recognized professional title, before losing it to Jake Atlas in June 2019.
Jack Perry Career
Early Career (2015–2019)
Perry’s formative years on the independent scene saw him develop a high-flying, athletic style that fit naturally with the Jungle Boy character. He teamed with Luchasaurus as “A Boy and His Dinosaur” in February 2019, and the partnership would soon become a defining element of his career. That May, Perry competed in a tribute match honoring his late father, defeating his father’s friend, the actor and former WCW World Heavyweight Champion David Arquette.
All Elite Wrestling Breakthrough (2019–Present)
Perry signed with All Elite Wrestling in January 2019 and made his debut at the promotion’s inaugural Double or Nothing event on May 25, competing in the pre-show Casino Battle Royale. He spent his first year working as a singles competitor before reuniting with Luchasaurus and adding Marko Stunt to form the faction Jurassic Express. The group quickly became one of AEW’s most popular acts, and Perry earned respect by lasting the full ten minutes against AEW World Champion Chris Jericho in December 2019.
Perry’s first major breakthrough as a singles star came at Double or Nothing on May 30, 2021, when he won the Casino Battle Royale by last eliminating Christian Cage to earn a future AEW World Championship opportunity. He unsuccessfully challenged Kenny Omega for the title in June 2021, but his performance cemented his status as a top-flight singles competitor in the promotion.
Tag Team Success and World Title Pursuit
On January 5, 2022, Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus defeated the Lucha Brothers to win the AEW World Tag Team Championship. Jurassic Express successfully defended the titles against teams including The Young Bucks and reDRagon before losing the championship to The Young Bucks in a ladder match at Road Rager on June 15, 2022, ending their reign at 161 days. Shortly after the loss, Perry’s mentor Christian Cage betrayed him, igniting a personal feud that culminated in a steel cage match victory for Perry at Full Gear in November 2022. In 2023, he unsuccessfully challenged for the AEW World Championship in a fatal four-way match at Double or Nothing.
The Elite Era and TNT Championship (2023–2024)
After a series of confrontations with CM Punk, Perry turned heel in mid-2023, dropped the Jungle Boy persona, and began wrestling under his real name. He defeated Hook to win the FTW Championship on July 19, 2023, becoming the first wrestler to defeat Hook since his 2021 debut, before losing the title back to him at All In. Following a legitimate backstage altercation with Punk, AEW owner Tony Khan terminated Punk’s contract and suspended Perry indefinitely.
Perry returned at AEW Dynasty on April 21, 2024, adopting a new “Scapegoat” persona and aligning with The Elite, helping The Young Bucks defeat FTR for the AEW World Tag Team Championship. He later won the AEW TNT Championship in a ladder match at Forbidden Door on June 30, 2024, and successfully defended the title in open challenges against wrestlers including Minoru Suzuki, Lio Rush, and Action Andretti. He lost the TNT Championship to Daniel Garcia at Full Gear in November 2024, ending a 146-day reign.
Return to Jurassic Express (2025)
After a ten-month absence from AEW television, Perry returned at All Out on September 20, 2025, attacking The Young Bucks and reforming Jurassic Express with Luchasaurus. The reunion marked his first face turn since 2023 and signaled a return to the “Jungle” Jack Perry persona. At WrestleDream on October 12, 2025, Jurassic Express defeated The Young Bucks, and at Full Gear on November 22, 2025, the team joined forces with Kenny Omega before ultimately shaking hands with The Young Bucks to end their rivalry.
Style and Strengths
Perry’s wrestling style is built on a foundation of high-flying offense, quick strikes, and crisp submissions. His finishing maneuvers include the Snare Trap, a cross-legged STF, and the Glass Jaw, a running single leg high knee. He complements his in-ring work with a strong character presentation, having evolved from a Tarzan-inspired babyface to a more aggressive heel persona before returning to his roots in 2025.
