Ronnie William Arneill (born February 19, 1981), better known by his ring name Shawn Spears, is a Canadian professional wrestler and trainer. He is signed to WWE, where he performs on the NXT brand and is the leader of the stable called The Culling. He is a former NXT North American Champion. Arneill is also widely recognized for his earlier run in WWE between 2013 and 2019 under the name Tye Dillinger, as well as for his time in All Elite Wrestling from 2019 to 2023.
Throughout a career that began in 2002, Arneill has worked across North American independents, WWE’s developmental system, and two of the largest professional wrestling promotions in the world. Born and raised in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada, Ronnie William Arneill attended Laura Secord Secondary School. He grew up as a fan of classic professional wrestlers, citing Rick Rude, Rick Martel, and Mr. Perfect as inspirations during his childhood. Before entering the wrestling business, Arneill played ice hockey for more than ten years, developing the discipline and conditioning that would later serve him in the ring. After sending a tape to World Wrestling Entertainment officials, Arneill was called for a tryout in Buffalo, New York, and was signed to a developmental contract on January 21, 2006. He was assigned to Ohio Valley Wrestling, where he debuted as The Canadian Sensation, defeating Simon Dean before quickly becoming involved in prominent storylines.
In OVW, Spears captured the OVW Television Championship from Boris Alexiev on March 17, 2007, his first singles title. He later won the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship with Colt Cabana and was involved in feuds with Cody Runnels and Aaron Idol Stevens. On November 5, 2006, he made a memorable main roster appearance at Cyber Sunday in a comedic backstage segment with Triple H and Shawn Michaels. WWE Main Roster Run as Gavin Spears (2006–2009)
Spears made his WWE television debut on the August 19 episode of ECW under the name Gavin Spears, competing as a heel in Theodore Long’s New Superstar Initiative. He lost to Ricky Ortiz in that debut match and continued to split time between ECW and Florida Championship Wrestling, picking up matches against competitors such as Super Crazy and Finlay.
His time on the main roster was brief, and on January 9, 2009, Arneill was released from his WWE contract, closing the first chapter of his association with the company.
Independent Circuit and Return to WWE (2009–2019)
After his release, Arneill returned to the independent scene, working promotions such as Ring of Honor and touring Mexico with Extreme Air Wrestle. On August 15, 2010, he and Idol Stevens captured the WWC World Tag Team Championship before losing it later that year. He also made appearances at fan conventions during this period.
On September 15, 2013, it was reported that Spears had re-signed with WWE, and he was assigned to NXT under the ring name Tye Dillinger. He made his televised NXT debut against Mojo Rawley and later formed a tag team with Jason Jordan. In 2016, Dillinger debuted the Perfect 10 gimmick, and in January 2017 he debuted on the main roster at the Royal Rumble match, entering at number 10 before being eliminated by Braun Strowman. Arneill debuted for All Elite Wrestling at the inaugural Double or Nothing pay-per-view in 2019, competing in the Casino Battle Royale. He aligned with Tully Blanchard, who became his manager, and later joined The Pinnacle, a faction led by MJF and including FTR.

He later formed a stable called The Culling with Brooks Jensen, Izzi Dame, and Niko Vance. On March 4, 2025, he won the NXT North American Championship by defeating Tony D’Angelo, before losing the title to Ricky Saints on April 1, 2025. Arneill and fellow Canadian wrestler Mattias Clement, known as Tyler Breeze, co-own and operate a wrestling school called Flatbacks Wrestling in Apopka, Florida, where they train the next generation of professional wrestlers.
