Millie McKenzie, a former WWE NXT UK wrestler also known as Emilia McKenzie in the ring, revealed she is currently battling a rare liver disease that has severely impacted her career. She has not competed since her appearance at EVE 138 nearly a month ago and shared details on social media explaining her recent absence from wrestling events.
Details of McKenzie’s Liver Condition and Its Impact
In a heartfelt message, McKenzie disclosed that she has lived with a rare form of liver disease her entire life, but the condition has worsened unexpectedly fast. As a result, she must undergo a liver transplant to prevent further decline. This diagnosis has forced her to cut back on her wrestling engagements significantly while focusing on regaining her strength.
She wrote,
“Thank you everyone for the kind words. I am now out of hospital.”
“For those that don’t know, I’ve lived with a rare form of liver disease all my life. Unfortunately it’s progressed much faster than expected meaning I will continue to deteriorate until I receive a liver transplant.”
“Because of this I have to completely cut back my wrestling schedule. Hopefully my liver will stabilise, which might allow to me continue wrestling in some form. I have to be extremely careful to not to push myself too much at the moment, while l’m trying to build my strength back up.”
“This is not a decision I’ve made lightly, I wish things were different. I’ve wrestled since I was 14, it’s been my life.”
“Hopefully I will see you all at a show soon *blush face emoji,*”
McKenzie added.
Support and Well Wishes from the Wrestling Community
Fans and fellow wrestlers have offered support throughout McKenzie’s health ordeal. Organizations covering wrestling news, including WrestleZone, have expressed their best wishes for her recovery and success in obtaining the liver transplant she needs.
Her situation highlights the physical and emotional challenges athletes may face when coping with serious health conditions, underscoring the importance of health above career ambitions. The wrestling community will be watching closely, hoping for her eventual return to the ring once her condition stabilizes.
