WWE NXT Streaming Future Uncertain as Peacock Deal Ends

Published:

The future of WWE NXT streaming access is currently clouded as significant changes loom in the partnership between WWE and Peacock, raising questions about where fans will be able to watch NXT in the coming months. This uncertainty has become more pressing with the WWE NXT streaming future at stake, especially after large portions of the WWE video library were quietly pulled from Peacock.

Major WWE Archive Content Removed from Peacock

Recent developments within WWE’s content distribution began surfacing at the start of 2025, when WWE RAW’s move to Netflix signaled a major shift. According to reports from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, much of the legacy WWE video library disappeared from Peacock as of January 1. Specifically, nearly all historical archives from the territory era have been removed, leaving only select collections such as SmackDown archives, Saturday Night’s Main Event episodes, and significant NXT events available to stream on the platform.

The removed content, particularly the territorial era footage, is expected to eventually be released on YouTube. However, this process is anticipated to be gradual, which means fans will have to wait a significant amount of time before accessing the material again. These are, however, projections based on current reports, and there is still considerable uncertainty regarding the final outcomes.

NXT Availability Faces an Imminent Deadline

While fans can still find previous WWE NXT shows on Peacock for now, the situation may not last beyond the coming months. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has indicated there have been parties interested in acquiring the library before, with ESPN once showing interest in both the NXT footage and the broader WWE archives.

Additionally, as Netflix picks up broadcasts for several main-roster WWE pay-per-view events, this particular deal excludes both territorial-era content and a variety of pay-per-views. For the time being, SmackDown episodes and Saturday Night’s Main Event specials are anticipated to remain available on Peacock for the long term. Major NXT programming is projected to stay on the service through March, but what will occur after that period is still unclear. The conclusion of the current agreement between WWE and Peacock later this year is at the heart of the uncertainty.

What the Changes Mean for WWE Fans

This period of transition, particularly with the WWE NXT streaming future unsettled, has created a sense of anxiety among fans. With the fate of the NXT library potentially hanging in the balance and further changes to WWE’s streaming arrangements likely on the horizon, dedicated viewers are left watching closely to see where their favorite programming will land next. The outcome will not only determine how fans access content, but could also reshape future licensing and broadcast deals for wrestling entertainment in the United States.
