WWE SmackDown fans have been given a significant WWE SmackDown injury update, as Elton Prince of Pretty Deadly will be out of action for an extended period following surgery. The news was confirmed after Prince revealed he underwent neck fusion surgery, sidelining him and leaving his tag partner Kit Wilson to continue solo.
Elton Prince’s Injury and Recent Medical Procedure
Elton Prince, one half of the Pretty Deadly tag team, suffered a severe injury during a WWE SmackDown match in May. The incident left Prince unable to compete, and after months of treatment and medical evaluation, it was determined that surgical intervention was necessary. On Thursday, January 8th, Prince had neck fusion surgery to address the serious neck injury he had been managing since the initial accident.
Sharing his experience on Instagram, Prince discussed the injury and the subsequent hardships he endured. He recalled the accident, stating he suffered a frightening moment during a match, which led to immediate and ongoing medical concerns over several months.
“Back in May I took a bad landing in the ring, the top of my head hit the mat and what felt like burning hot electricity exploded through my neck and my arms, I lost control of my hands as all my fingers curled in and were stuck for a moment. It was pretty terrifying and what followed has been 7 months of tests, questions and well pain. But thanks to the efforts of the WWE medical staff and Dr Kanter, Gina and the Hoag team we found the problem and yesterday I successfully underwent a 2 level neck fusion. Not exactly where I hoped to be at 28 but we are owed nothing in this life and I am just grateful to be on the road to recovery.I want to thank everybody who has messaged or commented to ask how and where I am its been nice to not feel forgotten and I will try my hardest to overcome all the obstacles and get back in the ring for you.But my focus right now is just getting healthy and reclaiming the basics like being able to be the best dad I can be for my daughter as @kellykincaid_wwe is long overdue a good nights sleep! I Can’t thank her enough for the support and help during all this and while im recovering im excited to watch my brother @kitwilson_pd crush everything he does and get a well deserved spotlight shone on him.”

The Impact on Pretty Deadly and Kit Wilson’s Solo Run
With Elton Prince sidelined, Kit Wilson has transitioned to singles competition on WWE SmackDown. The Pretty Deadly team, known for its chemistry and tag team prowess, now stands with Wilson representing the act alone as Prince focuses on recovery. Prince mentioned his pride and support for Wilson, expressing hope that his partner will shine in the singles spotlight while he heals.

The bond within the team remains strong despite the setback, and Prince’s message underscored his determination to fight through rehabilitation, motivated by the support of those around him and his role as a father to his daughter with WWE NXT interviewer Kelly Kincaid. Prince pointedly thanked Kincaid for her help throughout the recovery process, indicating the emotional and family dimension behind his journey to recovery.
Community and WWE’s Role in Prince’s Road to Recovery
Prince credited members of the WWE medical team, specifically Dr. Kanter, Gina, and the Hoag team, for guiding him through the diagnosis and surgery process. The wrestling community, including fans who reached out with concern and encouragement, played a role in lifting his spirits during the difficult months of uncertainty. WWE staff worked closely with Prince, ensuring that all possible treatment options were considered before ultimately moving forward with the fusion surgery.
His focus has now shifted to healing and basic physical recovery, with hopes of returning to the ring strong enough to compete in tag team action. For now, Prince will take time away from SmackDown, providing an opportunity for Kit Wilson to evolve his own narrative within the WWE.
