WWE WrestleMania Saudi Arabia 2027 is officially confirmed to take place in the country, marking the first time the event will be held there. This development comes amid speculation about which stars will appear, considering the significant investment by TKO to host the event.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson Close to Finalizing Main Event Deal
Dwayne Johnson, who serves on TKO’s board, is reportedly in advanced negotiations to headline the show. According to a report in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter by Dave Meltzer, those familiar with the Saudi General Entertainment Authority have verified that the WrestleMania agreement is finalized. They also indicated,
“they claimed negotiations for Dwayne Johnson were advancing and they believed the deal was close to being finalized.”
Although WWE has not publicly confirmed these talks, insiders suggest,
“The impression is that the final payment number for the show will be affected by whether or not they get The Rock in the main event. The idea is that the individual payoff for Johnson would be multiple times that of any pro wrestler for any event in history.”
Financial Details and Potential Matchups Revealed
WWE is poised to earn over $100 million from this weekend of events in Saudi Arabia. From the local organizers’ standpoint, the anticipated main event would feature Johnson, now 54, competing either against Cody Rhodes or Roman Reigns. These options highlight WWE’s aim to showcase marquee talent in the historic setting.
Official Announcement Expected Soon in Las Vegas
The formal announcement concerning WWE WrestleMania Saudi Arabia 2027 is scheduled for Friday afternoon in Las Vegas. In addition to Johnson, WWE is pursuing other major stars to join the card for this landmark event, promising an exciting roster for fans worldwide.
