Xavier Woods is expected to return to action sooner rather than later after sustaining a shoulder injury. The 13-time WWE Tag Team Champion revealed details about his condition during the WWE 2K26 Creator Fest held at WWE Headquarters, following an announcement by Kofi Kingston on the February 16 episode of WWE Raw that Woods required time off to recover.
Woods provided a candid update on his shoulder’s status, acknowledging discomfort but maintaining a hopeful outlook on his recovery process and timeline.
Details on Injury and Rehabilitation Process
While Woods admitted that lifting with his injured shoulder remains painful, he described the injury’s severity with a colorful metaphor:
“I kind of put it through like a meat grinder, so we’ll see how it is,”
he told WrestleZone. Despite the damage, operational plans currently prioritize physical therapy over surgery.
“Hopefully, it’s a few weeks of physical therapy, and then we’ll be back at it. But if not, I will let everybody know,”
Woods explained, adding,
“But yeah, it’s alright. We’re just staying positive.”
This approach suggests minimal downtime, which should reassure fans of New Day and WWE followers concerned about a lengthy absence.
Gaming as a Bonding Avenue in the WWE Community
During the Creator Fest event, Woods also reflected on the role gaming plays in his life and WWE culture. As a prominent figure in the gaming and wrestling crossover space through UpUpDownDown and WWE 2K collaborations, he emphasized how video games foster camaraderie inside the locker room.
“There’s definitely a ton of guys and girls in the locker room that play video games. So, it’s just another way for us to bond in the locker room, another thing for us to have a commonality on. For me, video games are like a safe space, just like wrestling was when I was little,”
Woods said.
Combining Passions to Influence Wrestling Culture
For Woods, melding his love for wrestling and gaming goes beyond business or branding; it is deeply personal. He expressed pride in helping merge these two worlds within WWE and creating a more inclusive environment for performers.

“So the fact that I have the ability to not only see my two passions merge, but be one of the reasons that they have merged, it’s a really good feeling,”
he shared.
“It makes me feel like I have really made my mark on wrestling while I’ve been a part of it, and made it a place where you can be more comfortable and be yourself, rather than climbing up and trying to be what everybody else thinks you should be and losing yourself in that.”
Outlook on Return to Wrestling Action
Woods is concentrating on healing, with his proposed schedule relying mainly on physical therapy and rest rather than surgery. Given the current trajectory of his rehabilitation, fans may expect to see him return to the ring relatively soon.
His careful approach aims to avoid complications while maintaining optimism regarding his recovery. Woods’ update reassures the WWE community that his injury, though challenging, is manageable and being treated with caution.
