A 21-time WWE champion has identified what he believes is the biggest mistake concerning Bron Breakker, a second-generation talent who has enjoyed strong booking since joining WWE. After a notable run on NXT, Breakker transitioned to the main roster, where he established himself as a major player and secured a World Title opportunity just two weeks ago.
As a prominent member of The Vision and a top heel on RAW, Breakker has been positioned as a rising star. However, former WWE Hardcore Champion Stevie Richards feels something essential is missing from Breakker’s presentation. Speaking on The Stevie Richards Show, Richards questioned why WWE has not leaned into Breakker’s family legacy.
“You know what the biggest disconnect that they’ve done with him that still lingers to this day from the day he debuted? Why aren’t you calling him Steiner? But what I’m saying is why are you not calling, Frankensteiner, his father, his uncle, the Steiners, his name is Bron Breaker. And people are like what?… Why are they not calling him Steiner?” he said.
Richards also drew a parallel to Curt Henning’s son Joe, who wrestled under the names Michael McGillicutty and Curtis Axel, highlighting how the absence of his famous father’s name diminished recognition.
“This is like how dead in the water was Curtis Axel without the ‘Mr. Perfect’ Curt Henning name,” he added.
Paul Heyman Challenges WWE Narrative Following Breakker’s Suspension
During a recent episode of RAW, Bron Breakker attacked multiple wrestlers, including babyfaces Bronson Reed and Austin Theory, and even confronted WWE general manager Adam Pearce. This aggressive behavior led to an indefinite suspension for Breakker, a former Intercontinental Champion.
WWE’s official social media posted a clip of the incident, framing Breakker’s actions as unjustified. In response, Paul Heyman defended Breakker, accusing the company of omitting crucial context in the footage.
Heyman argued in the comments that WWE’s depiction was biased because the clip did not show Pearce initiating physical contact with Breakker first.
Impact of the Overlooked Steiner Legacy on Bron Breakker’s Trajectory
The decision to exclude references to the Steiner family name may be holding Bron Breakker back from connecting more deeply with longtime fans familiar with his wrestling lineage. Calling attention to heritage like the Frankensteiner move or the Steiners’ legacy could strengthen his identity and marketability.
With Paul Heyman rallying to his defense and Breakker’s ongoing prominence in WWE storylines, how the company manages his character and legacy moving forward will be crucial for his development as a major star.
