McCarthy Signals Full Support for Trump in 2024: Former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy told in a pre-recorded interview that he would support Trump in 2024.
McCarthy laughed and said, “I’ll back the president. President Trump has my support.” However, he stressed that Trump’s probable reelection bid should not be about “revenge.”
McCarthy had previously stated, “I haven’t endorsed, but I support President Trump.” The clarification on whether this amounts to an official endorsement is yet to be confirmed.
As Trump dominates the GOP presidential primary with significant support, McCarthy’s stance aligns with the former president’s popularity among potential Republican primary voters. Recent polling, including a Wall Street Journal survey, shows Trump leading with 59%, leaving other contenders like Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis trailing.
Despite the strong endorsement, McCarthy cautioned against Trump making the reelection campaign about retribution. He stressed that America doesn’t want to see a focus on revenge, emphasizing a forward-looking approach to build a better tomorrow.
Reflecting on his own experience, McCarthy, who lost the position of Speaker, expressed a commitment to the country’s well-being. He asserted his dedication to actively engage in the process to contribute to a better future.
When questioned about the possibility of serving in a potential future Trump cabinet, McCarthy remained open to the idea. He stated that if he is deemed the best person for the job, he would consider it, citing his past collaboration with President Trump on various policies and their honest relationship.
