Blake Monroe Says No Rush for WWE Main Roster Call-Up

Blake Monroe, known for her prominent role in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has expressed no urgency about moving to WWE’s main roster. Since joining WWE in 2025, Monroe has competed in WWE NXT, where she held the NXT Women’s North American Championship. Despite her success, she is content remaining in NXT to continue developing her skills and storylines before advancing to RAW or SmackDown.

Monroe’s Perspective on Staying in NXT

In a detailed discussion with Sam Roberts, Monroe explained her reasons for not rushing to the principal WWE shows. She recounted an experience in Washington where two young fans approached her, expressing their love for NXT.

“For some people, that is their favorite show,”

Monroe noted. She further emphasized,

“I don’t know why there’s this idea, ‘I need to be called up.’ I’m not in any rush. Like I said, I still have so much to do. I’ve hardly feuded with any of the women. I mean, Jordynne Grace wasted a lot of my time, and now Jaida Parker is chasing me around — but there are so many women I want to wrestle. I haven’t even gone after the main women’s title yet. There’s so much to do, and I definitely don’t look at it.”

Career Highlights Before and Within WWE

Before signing with WWE, Monroe competed as Mariah May in AEW, where she became the AEW Women’s World Champion and won the Owen Hart Foundation tournament. One of her most memorable triumphs occurred at AEW All In: London 2024 at Wembley Stadium, where she defeated Toni Storm for the title. After departing AEW, Monroe openly shared that joining WWE had always been her long-term goal, leading to her WWE debut shortly after leaving AEW.

Implications for Monroe’s Wrestling Trajectory

Monroe’s deliberate approach to her WWE career signals a focus on making a significant impact at NXT before transitioning to the main roster. Her emphasis on meaningful rivalries and pursuing the primary women’s championship suggests she aims to build a stronger foundation rather than seeking a quick promotion. This strategy may ultimately enhance her legacy within WWE and provide more substantial storylines for fans.
