Mariah May Mead was born on 4 August 1998 in London, England, and grew up in the Islington area of the city. She is a supporter of Arsenal Football Club, a personal detail she has referenced in public interviews. Her original ring name, Mariah May, is a tribute to her grandmother, whose name inspired Mead’s middle name and who passed away before Mead entered the wrestling industry.
After establishing herself as a professional, Mead launched a YouTube channel on 16 January 2017 offering a look into her interests in wrestling, fashion, gaming, and fitness. She followed that with a Twitch channel on 14 June 2020, where she streamed and interacted with a fan community she calls House May. These early projects reflected a long-standing interest in performance, content creation, and fitness that would later shape her wrestling persona.

Before stepping into the ring, Mead began her career as a ring announcer in 2018, performing on multiple shows throughout that year. While the tryout was unsuccessful, it helped her sharpen her foundation. On 29 February 2020, she won the United Wrestling Championship in the main event of United Wrestling UK’s “I Can Do This All Day” event, earning her first professional wrestling title.

The partnership produced early matches at TNT Extreme Wrestling and at Revolution Pro Wrestling’s “Live from the Cockpit 51” event, where May ambushed new champion Gisele Shaw. May then adopted the nickname “Princess of Revolution Pro Wrestling.”
Across 2021 and 2022, May competed on the British independent circuit, defending her first championship and adding two more titles. At Ultimate Pro Wrestling’s 7-Year Anniversary Show on 30 January 2022, she was awarded the Big League Wrestling Women’s Championship, her fourth simultaneous title. She also made her American in-ring debut on 26 March 2022 at Battleground Championship Wrestling, defeating Lady Frost in Philadelphia.
