CM Punk, the WWE World Heavyweight Champion, recently revealed his enthusiasm about the possibility of working alongside John Cena within the DC Universe. In a conversation with Joe Deckelmeier from MovieWeb, CM Punk discussed how teaming up with Cena again, especially within James Gunn’s DC projects, would be an exciting opportunity.
Punk expressed confidence that he and Cena will join forces in some way down the line, though the specifics remain uncertain. He explained that if he fits into Gunn’s creative vision for the DC Universe, he would eagerly embrace the chance.
Oh, I would be a fool to say I didn’t,
CM Punk began. “I think me and John are gonna work together again. I don’t know when, I don’t know where, I don’t know for whom. James Gunn is busy doing this whole DC thing, and it feels like John is a big part of that. Peacemaker is excellent.
So James Gunn is like a booker, right? Like, he’s gonna have a vision for certain characters and certain people. If I ever fit in one of those visions, man, I’ll do what I can to make sure I can secure the role. But to work with John in that capacity would kind of be a dream.
Interest in Collaborating with Dave Bautista Again
In addition to his desire to work with John Cena, CM Punk also conveyed interest in teaming up with fellow former WWE Champion Dave Bautista. Punk mentioned that both actors have compelling stories to share, which could provide strong roles for them in future projects.
Same with Dave Bautista. I really want to work with him again, because we got stories to tell. There are stories out there that could probably use me, or him, or John, and I’d jump at the chance to work with either of those guys again,
CM Punk said.
The Broader Significance of These Potential Collaborations
CM Punk’s openness to joining forces with high-profile wrestling stars like John Cena and Dave Bautista in the DC Universe reflects the expanding crossover between wrestling and mainstream entertainment. With James Gunn’s creative leadership, these iconic athletes have new avenues to explore characters beyond the ring. If these collaborations come to fruition, they could enrich the DC projects and deepen connections between wrestling fans and the broader cinematic audience.
